Ridgewood NJ, PSEG warns residents Don’t fall victim. Always ask to see ID! When someone knocks on your door and says that he or she is from PSE&G, always ask to see their ID. If they don’t show you a PSE&G ID badge, don’t let them in. Look for an ID that is white with the employee’s name, photo and a PSE&G logo on it. If you’re still unsure, don’t take a chance, call 1-800-436-PSEG (7734) to check the person’s identity.
If you did let them in, what would they do? Robbery? Worse? (Is there a deviation that makes people want to read other people’s gas meters?)
Any doubt? Just read your own indoor meter and leave the numbers on the card on the appropriate day. Or call it in.
Have outdoor meter installed and they don’t come into your home to read meter at all.
7:21, I did this many years ago when working at an office job and it has been clear sailing ever since. I would have done it years before that if I had known it was an option.
