Ridgewood NJ, With a major blizzard officially on the way, the Village of Ridgewood has announced emergency adjustments to the sanitation and recycling schedule for the week of February 23, 2026.

To ensure the safety of our sanitation crews and to assist with snow removal efforts, all residents are asked to follow these temporary guidelines strictly.


Monday, February 23: Total Suspension

  • Trash & Recycling Collection: All collections are SUSPENDED.

  • Ridgewood Recycling Center: The center will be CLOSED.

New Collection Timetable

Following the storm, crews will work on a delayed schedule. Please note the specific day for your area:

  • West Side Trash Collection: Moved to Tuesday, February 24.

  • East Side Trash Collection: Moved to Wednesday, February 25.

  • Area 1 Curbside Recycling: Will take place on Tuesday, February 24.

  • Area 2 Curbside Recycling: Will take place on Wednesday, February 25.

  • East Side Bulk Refuse: Scheduled for Wednesday, February 25.

    • Note: This is limited to five (5) bags only. No appliances, furniture, or large items will be accepted.

Important: Rear-Yard Collection Paused

Rear-yard collection is suspended for the entire week and is expected to resume on Monday, March 2, weather permitting.

Resident Action Required: To have your trash collected this week, you must place all containers at the curb or on your driveway apron. Please do not place containers in the street, as they interfere with snowplows.

  1. Guess what? I wouldn’t really stick to that schedule cause no one knows exactly what’s gonna happen. You know what kind of snow is gonna be on the curb line and drifts. Sanitation and recycling may be suspended a few more days. Good luck.
