Borough of Ramsey to Conduct a Property Revaluation and Reassessment

Ramsey NJ, the Borough of Ramsey has announced that Appraisal Systems Inc. has been hired to conduct a property revaluation and reassessment mandated by Bergen County. This process is essential to ensure property values are accurately reflected according to current market conditions

Mayor Deirdre Dillon emphasized the importance of communication during this period. “Letters outlining the reassessment process were sent to all property owners by Appraisal Systems,” she noted. “Please do not throw out these letters. They should be retained throughout the revaluation process should you have any questions.”

A full property reassessment is triggered when a municipality’s valuation falls below 85% of the current market value. This is a common occurrence, with nearly half of Bergen County’s 70 municipalities receiving similar orders.

While a property tax revaluation aims to be “net neutral” in its overall tax impact on the borough, individual property taxes will vary. The change in property taxes for each owner will depend on how their property’s new valuation compares to the borough’s average.

Ramsey expects the revaluation process to be completed and take effect with the third-quarter property tax bill in 2025.

Appraisal Systems representatives will conduct both external and internal property inspections, carrying photo identification.
