Upper Saddle River NJ, Upper Saddle River Police issued the following message : Important community crime alert from the Upper Saddle River Police Department.
At approximately 10:15 November 3rd , two unknown suspects entered a resident’s garage and attempted to steal a motor vehicle. The resident was outside in the rear of his home when the crime occurred. Thankfully, he did not encounter the perpetrators. Vehicle theft incidents continue to increase in frequency throughout Bergen County. The suspects are brazen and will enter garages and in some instances, unlocked homes, to search for key fobs. These crimes previously occurred primarily during overnight hours, however we have recently experienced multiple incidents during both the morning and afternoon. Please continue to lock all vehicles regardless of the time of day.
Most importantly DO NOT CONFRONT these individuals. Immediately report all suspicious activity to the Upper Saddle River Police Department.
This will continue to get worse. The AG’s new pursuit guidelines in 2022 will prevent Police Officers from chasing these suspects. Read up on the law changes and see how law enforcement will now have to restrain themselves from chasing criminals. Please, please lock your cars and your homes.

Can someone with a legal or criminal law background check the veracity of the above.
NJ is run ‘by the criminals (Democrats) for the criminals’
FWIW, AFAIR, the first vigilance committees began in San Francisco in the 91th century due to ineffective law enforcement.
Your Governor and your legislators, with some exceptions are NOT looking out for you.
“Can someone with a legal or criminal law background check the veracity of the above”
Already applied by Ridgewood PD in an article from yesterday.
You want to be a cop today, best for your own good to be a potted plant.
Remember folks, castle doctrine only applies inside a dwelling. Do not engage outdoors on the property unless they are armed
Rodney, we do NOT have the castle doctrine in NJ
You are expected to be in fear of your life and better be able to prove it.
I’d expect a citizen protecting himself/herself in NJ better make sure the perp has a gun vs a baseball bat or skateboard… (and you’d likely be expected to retreat if possible)
This state is a joke.
Castle doctrine DOES exist in the PDRNJ, but it does not extend to the curtilage like in many other states. Duty to retreat outside the dwelling applies only if it can be done with complete safety (means you have to articulate).
