Google’s Top Secret New Project Teaching Artificial Intelligence to Write and Fix Code

Ridgewood NJ, Google is working on a tool that uses machine learning to train code to write, fix, and update itself. The project started inside Alphabet’s X research unit. Codenamed Pitchfork, the project is now part of a new group at Google Labs named the AI Developer Assistance team. Its original goal was to build a tool that could update Google’s Python codebase to a newer version. What could possibly go wrong with that ?

New CRISPR-based Tool Can Insert Large DNA Sequences Into Desired Cells

Ridgewood NJ, MIT researchers have designed a new tool that can cut and replace genes safelt and efficiently. PASTE (Programmable Addition via Site-specific Targeting Elements) can deliver genes as long as 36,000 DNA base pairs to several types of human cells. It works by combining the precise targeting of CRISPR-Cas9 with enzymes that viruses use to insert genetic material into bacterial genomes. In tests, the researchers were able to insert genes with a success rate ranging from 5% to 60% with very few unwanted changes.

Violent protests break out at Foxconn’s ‘iPhone city’ Complex

Ridgewood NJ, protests have broken out at Foxconn’s iPhone factory in Zhengzhou. The protests started after workers learned that bonus payments would be delayed. Footage of the protests on social media show workers clashing with riot police and hazmat-suited officials. The workers have been forced to live and work on-site due to Foxconn’s strict Covid-19 controls.

Ridgewood NJ, researchers have discovered two novel genes that increase an individual’s risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease. The researchers used a technique called exome sequencing to identify the genes. Exome sequencing is able to identify rare mutations. The discovery brings scientists closer to finding treatment options and preventative measures for the disease.

Tesla Recalls 321,000 vehicles due safety issue

Ridgewood NJ,  Tesla (TSLA)  revealed it is recalling 321,000 vehicles due to a safety issue.

In a filing posted over the weekend on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) website, the automaker said some Tesla Model 3 sedans and Model Y SUVs had an issue that caused the tail lamps to “intermittently illuminate,” meaning poor visibility on the road in some instances. According to Tesla  the brake lights were not affected by the issue.
