The United States is in decline. While not all major shocks to the system will be devastating, when the right one comes along, the outcome may be dramatic.

Not all explosives are the same. We all know you have to be careful with dynamite. Best to handle it gently and not smoke while you’re around it.

Semtex is different. You can drop it. You can throw it. You can put it in the fire. Nothing will happen. Nothing until you put the right detonator in it, that is.

To me, the US – and most of the supposedly free West – increasingly looks like a truck being systematically filled with Semtex.

But it’s easy to counter cries of alarm with the fact that the truck is stable – because it’s true: you can hurl more boxes into the back without any real danger. Absent the right detonator, it is no more dangerous than a truckload of mayonnaise.

But add the right detonator and you’re just one click away from complete devastation.

We can see how fragile the U.S. is now by considering just four tendencies.

1. Destruction of farms and reliable food source

The average American is a long way from food when the shops are closed.

The Washington Post reports that the number of farms in the country has fallen by some 4 million from more than 6 million in 1935 to roughly 2 million in 2012.

And according to the College of Agriculture & Life Sciences, only about 2 percent of the US population live on farms.

That means that around 4.6 million people currently have the means to feed themselves.

Food supply logistics are extended, sometimes stretching thousands of miles. The shops have nothing more than a few days’ stock. A simple break in that supply line would clear the shops out in days.

2. Weak economic system

The American economic system is little more than froth.

The US currency came off the gold standard in 1933 and severed any link with gold in 1971. Since then, the currency has been essentially linked to oil, the value of which has been protected and held together by wars.

The whole world has had enough of the US and its hubris – not least the people of the US themselves, which the massive support currently for Putin’s decision to deal with ISIS demonstrates.

Since pro-active war is what keeps the US going, if it loses the monopoly on that front, its decline is inevitable.

Fiat economies always collapse. They last on average for 37 years. By that metric the US should have already run out of gas.

Once people wake up and smell the Yuan, the Exodus out of the dollar will be unstoppable.

Israel: Palestinians ‘Brainwashed With Hate’

rts4rnj-1-992x558

Israel’s ambassador to the UN claims Palestinian children are being “taught to hate” as violent clashes continue in the West Bank.

Palestinian children are being “brainwashed” with “incitement and hate”, according to an Israeli spokesman.

Danny Danon, Israel’s new ambassador to the United Nations, is urging the Security Council to make a statement against what he described as “the incitement that fuels terror”.

His speech comes amid an increase in violence in the Middle East with eight Israelis killed in Palestinian attacks, mostly stabbings, in the past month.

In the same period, 34 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli fire. Israel has described 17 of those as attackers, while the rest died in clashes with Israeli troops.

During his speech, Mr Danon held up a piece of card with a diagram of a human body entitled “How to Stab a Jew”, which he claims is “an example of what Palestinian children are being exposed to day in and day out, in school, after school”.

70 percent of small-business owners believe the overall U.S. business climate is fair or poor

US not headed in right direction, some on Main Street say

NFIB surveyed small businesses on issues as the election season intensifies

Kate Rogers | @katerogersnews

As the presidential debate season intensifies, small-business owners are pessimistic about the business climate and feel America is on the wrong track, according to a new survey.

The wide-ranging survey, “Opinions of Small Employers,” from the conservative-leaning National Federation of Independent Business released Monday found nearly 70 percent of small-business owners believe the overall U.S. business climate is fair or poor. What’s more, six years out of the Great Recession, 63 percent of those polled said the country is on the wrong track. The NFIB surveyed 500 business owners with up to 250 employees.

“Small-business owners just aren’t convinced that things are headed in the right direction,” said Holly Wade, director of research at the NFIB. The survey was conducted during the second quarter of this year.

The report comes as optimism among small businesses is holding steady, but still lingering below historical averages. The NFIB’s Small Business Optimism Index for September, released separately Tuesday, found confidence edged up slightly to 96.1 last month. But fewer business owners expect strong sales.

Looking ahead to the 2016 election year, the NFIB found business owners believe Washington should prioritize dealing with the federal budget as their top economic problem with a third of the vote, followed by slowing the rise of health-care costs with 23 percent and reforming the federal tax code with 18 percent.

Iran test-fires new generation long-range ballistic missiles, state media report

Iran’s Supreme Leader

By Tim Hume, CNN

Updated 1614 GMT (2314 HKT) October 11, 2015

(CNN)Iran has successfully test-fired a new precision-guided, long-range missile, state-run media reported on Sunday.

The Emad (Pillar) surface-to-surface missile, designed and built by Iranian experts, is the country’s first long-range missile that can be precision-guided until it reaches its target, said Brig. Gen. Hossein Dehqan, Iran’s defense minister.

“To follow our defense programs, we don’t ask permission from anyone,” he said, according to state-run news agency IRNA.

The new rocket is “capable of scrutinizing the targets and destroying them completely,” IRNA reported.

The Emad would be Tehran’s first precision-guided missile with the range to reach its enemy, Israel.

Israel is bitterly opposed to Iran’s nuclear program, and observers have speculated that it could be prepared to launch pre-emptive strikes on Iranian nuclear sites in an effort to derail their progress.

Dehqan said following the launch that the Emad would greatly increase Iran’s strategic deterrence capability, state media reported.

Study: Government Workers Make 78 Percent More Than Private Sector

Obama-Golf

Average pay and benefits $52,688 higher than non-gov’t employees

Employees for the federal government earn far more than their counterparts in the private sector, according to a new study by the Cato Institute.

Federal workers’ pay and benefits were 78 percent higher than private employees, who earned an average of $52,688 less than public sector workers last year.

The study found that federal government workers earned an average of $84,153 in 2014, compared to the private sector’s average of $56,350. Cato based its findings on figures from the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA).

But when adding in benefits pay for federal workers, the difference becomes more dramatic. Federal employees made $119,934 in total compensation last year, while private sector workers earned $67,246, a difference of over $52,000, or 78 percent.

Thousands set to protest Obama in Roseburg, Oregon, on Friday

protests obama

October 9, 201512:01 AM MST

On Friday, President Barack Obama plans to visit the community of Roseburg, Oregon, home of Umpqua Community College, the school that has become “ground zero” in the most recent gun control debate. But the president’s visit has raised the ire of many who believe his trip is intended to advance his gun control agenda. As of late Thursday, nearly 7,900 people have said they intend to protest Obama’s visit. On Thursday, Seattle’s KING-5 said that multiple protests are planned for the day, with at least two being held by the Douglas County Tea Party to show support for County Sheriff John Hanlin.

Early Thursday, the Facebook event “Defend Roseburg — Deny Barack Obama” boasted over 6,500 possible attendees. That number significantly increased in the course of the day, with the event gaining support nationwide. It is uncertain exactly how many of those will actually show up, however, as a number have said they are coming from California and elsewhere.

Event organizers have also announced protests in two separate locations. They intend to stay away from the funerals and some may bring firearms, they added, suggesting that those who come armed carry handguns as opposed to rifles.

President Barack Obama will travel to Oregon this week to visit privately with families of the victims of last week’s shooting at a community college.

However the trip has angered locals in Roseburg who say Obama is ‘not welcome’ in the town because the visit will be nothing but a ‘grandstand for political purposes’.

Leading the chorus is David Jaques, the publisher of conservative newspaper the Roseburg Beacon.

‘I think that’s very inappropriate, and I think it’s disrespectful to the families,’ Jaques told Breitbart News.

How 7 years of Obama brought the world from Kumbaya to chaos

middle-east-shouts-death-to-america

By Post Editorial Board

October 3, 2015 | 6:27pm

Just three years ago, President Obama famously ridiculed GOP opponent Mitt Romney’s statement that Russia remained America’s main geopolitical foe by taunting: “The 1980s are calling to ask for their foreign policy back.”

Four years before that, Obama stood at Berlin’s Brandenburg Gate to declare that once he became president, all people would join him around a global campfire, hold hands and put an end to the world’s evils and miseries.

Well, seven years into Obama’s presidency, the promised worldwide Kumbaya is instead global chaos — caused in large measure by his willful retreat from America’s position of leadership.

Washington’s traditional allies increasingly feel abandoned, its enemies emboldened. The United States isn’t even leading from behind — it’s cowering in weakness.

And no one is taking better advantage of this than Vladimir Putin, now storming headlong into the yawning chasm of American retreat and reasserting Russia’s global influence and power — just as Mitt Romney said.

Putin remains unchallenged in his invasion of Ukraine, leaving him free to intervene — again unchallenged — in the Middle East.

In Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan and Libya, Obama’s outreach to the Muslim world hasn’t ended the threat of terrorism. On the contrary, it has seen the rise of “JV team” ISIS and new power for the Taliban. Israelis and Palestinians remain as far apart as ever — because only Israel has been targeted to make concessions.

This president accuses his political foes of wanting to wage war as their first option and warns of the limits of unilateral military power.

But in his eagerness to leave office as the president who ended America’s wars, he refuses to consider any use (or even a credible threat) of US force — even when hundreds of thousands are being massacred in Syria, many by the chemical weapons he claimed to eliminate.

Payrolls Disaster: Only 142K Jobs Added In September With Zero Wage Growth; August Revised Much Lower

help_wanted_theridgewoodblog

Submitted by Tyler Durden on 10/02/2015 12:36 -0400

And so the “most important payrolls number” at least until the October FOMC meeting when the Fed will once again do nothing because suddenly the US is staring recession in the face, is in the history books, and as previewed earlier today, at 142K it was a total disaster, 60K below the consensus and below the lowest estimate.

Just as bad, the August print was also revised far lower from 173K to 136K. And while it is less followed, the household survey was an unmitigated disaster, with 236,000 jobs lost in September.

Most Agree With Trump on America’s Lost Greatness, Bloomberg Poll Finds

Trump_hat_boarder-theridgewoodblog

John McCormick

A national survey finds that 72 percent of Americans say their country isn’t as great as it once was—a central theme of front-runner Donald Trump’s campaign.

Americans are “fed up” with politics, suspect the wealthy are getting an unfair edge, and think the country is going in the wrong direction, according to a new Bloomberg Politics poll that lays bare the depth and breadth of the discontents propelling outsider candidates in the Republican presidential field.

The survey shows that 72 percent of Americans think their country isn’t as great as it once was—a central theme of front-runner Donald Trump’s campaign. More than a third prefer a presidential candidate without experience in public office.

Read the questions and methodology here.

Three of the four candidates leading the Republican field fit that description: Trump, the first choice of 21 percent of registered Republicans and voters who say they lean that way, followed by neurosurgeon Ben Carson with 16 percent, former Florida GovernorJeb Bush with 13 percent, and former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina with 11 percent.

Fiorina and Carson have seen the strongest gains among Republicans since the survey was taken a month ago. In the interim, voters have had their first extended looks at the candidates in two nationally televised debates. Fiorina’s numbers, at 1 percent in the August poll, leaped by 10 percentage points while Carson jumped 11 percentage points, up from 5 percent. Trump’s numbers have remained unchanged. Together, the three candidates who have never held political office account for 48 percent of the Republican vote.

Is the President Really Scared of a 12 year old?

Ridgewood NJ, If one word could describe CJ Pearson, it would be effective., so effective that even the President of the United States has blocked him from his Facebook page .

According to hi Facebook page , ” At 12 years old, CJ Pearson commands a brand, following, and political message that inspires the youngest of followers to even an older generation of conservatives. Since the age 8, CJ has considered himself a conservative. With a Facebook base of over 29,000 followers and a YouTube channel viewership of well over 2 Million, in less than two months, CJ Pearson’s work can be seen in many networks. He’s been featured on Fox News, the Washington Times, USA Today, and from commentators including Mark Levin and Laura Ingraham.

Strongly believing that young people, regardless of political affiliation, must become involved in the political process, CJ founded the Young Georgians in Government. He currently serves as Executive Director where he has introduced pieces of legislation to the Georgia General Assembly. He’s fought for real solutions facing young people across Georgia and has made large strides to engaging young people in the political process.”

CJ recently took the President to task on the on the bogus “clock boy” incident , “ Barack Obama, while I’ve made this request before, to no avail, I’ve decided to make it once more. Because after this week, I might just be on your radar.

With new evidence surfacing, it is increasingly clear that Ahmed Mohammed never built a clock. Richard Dawkins agrees.

So, Mr. President, I ask you to be fair. I ask you to look past party and look towards solutions.

While Ahmed has never built a clock, I’ve written and introduced two pieces of legislation, empowering young people to take a stand in their government!

While Ahmed has never built a clock, I’ve fought for criminal justice reform. An issue, as of recently, very close to your heard.

While Ahmed’s accomplishments seem to be a bit murky, my accomplishments and leadership towards fighting for my generation are indisputable and are well documented.

In this meeting, I’d like to talk about issues of importance to my generation like education policy, our growing national debt, and the steadily rising youth unemployment rate for young people who are desperately struggling to find work.

Like you, I want to give my generation some “hope and change” they can believe. A future they can count on. So, Mr. President, let’s make this happen!

The presidents response to date has to block CJ from his Facebook page.

GALLUP: 75% in U.S. See Widespread Government Corruption

75% in U.S. See Widespread Government Corruption

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Three in four Americans (75%) last year perceived corruption as widespread in the country’s government. This figure is up from two in three in 2007 (67%) and 2009 (66%).

While the numbers have fluctuated slightly since 2007, the trend has been largely stable since 2010. However, the percentage of U.S. adults who see corruption as pervasive has never been less than a majority in the past decade, which has had no shortage of controversies from theU.S. Justice Department’s firings of U.S. attorneys to the IRS scandal.

Nobel panel saw Obama peace prize as ‘mistake,’ new book claims

Obama-pictured-as-king

By Meghan Bartlett – The Washington Times – Wednesday, September 16, 2015

The former director of Norway’s Nobel Institute revealed this week that he regrets the committee’s decision to give the 2009 Nobel Peace award to President Obama.

Geil Lundestad, director at the institute for 25 years, said in his just-published memoir that he and the committee had unanimously decided to grant the award to Mr. Obama just after his election in 2009 more in hopes of aiding the American president to achieve his goals on nuclear disarmament, rather than in recognition of what Mr. Obama had already accomplished.

Looking back over Mr. Obama’s presidency, Mr. Lundestad said, granting him the award did not fulfill the committee’s expectations.

Obama’s shameful appeasement of Iran

Iran’s Supreme Leader

By Robert B. Davis

President Obama is implementing the Iran nuclear agreement, or Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), with Machiavellian, unconstitutional stratagems.  He circumvented the Constitution by not submitting the agreement as a treaty, whose ratification would require a two-thirds Senate majority.  He enshrined the accord in international law at the UN Security Council, presenting Congress with a fait accompli.

Congress could only review the JCPOA and related agreements and accept or reject Obama’s waver of Iran sanctions.  Congress never received the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)’s confidential agreements with Iran, containing the inspection regime, as required by the Corker-Cardin bill passed earlier in 2015.  Congress opposed the agreement, but the President will uphold it, with the House of Representatives failing to achieve a veto-proof majority.  Senate Democrats already defeated one cloture motion, likely denying Senators any vote at all.

These unsavory tactics were Obama’s only recourse.  The one-sided deal is unpopular.  Iran committed to cutting centrifuges by almost two-thirds, as well as reducing uranium enrichment from 20 percent to 3.67 percent and enriched uranium to 300 kilograms.  It agreed to redesign the Arak heavy water reactor, designed to produce weapons-grade plutonium.  However, only declared nuclear sites will be subject to 24/7 inspections.  Secretary of State Kerry accepted Ayatollah Khameini and Iranian Foreign Minister Zarif’s refusal to delineate previous efforts to weaponize nuclear technology.  Without baseline knowledge, assessments of the potential for nuclear break-out are problematic.  Defense Minister Dehgen states he will not allow inspection of military sites.

The IAEA must petition Iran for access to undeclared sites, giving it 24 days to comply.  Factoring in dispute resolution, this could mean two to three months.  The lifting of sanctions and dispersal of over $100 billion in frozen Iranian assets is front-loaded.  Kerry reassured Congress sanctions could be “snapped back,” but the JCPOA states a snap back releases Iran from its obligations.  The Europeans are rushing to sign contracts with Iran, and these will be “grandfathered.”  Snap back would only be invoked in extreme circumstances.  No graduated penalties exist for lesser infractions, meaning no effective enforcement regime exists, encouraging Iran to engage in a “sneak out” strategy.
