Paramus NJ, Stew Leonard, Jr. of Stew Leonard’s Wines and Spirits will host a major “Mexican Fiesta” after President Donald Trump struck an agreement with the Government of Mexico to avoid tariffs which would skyrocket costs of tequila and goods imported from Mexico. Since tariffs will be held not be placed on imported goods from Mexico, Stew Leonard’s Wine and Spirts shops in Connecticut and New Jersey will host a celebration for residents, patrons and tequila lovers with a margarita and tequila tasting.
Stew Leonard’s Wine and Spirits stores located in Clifton, Paramus and Springfield, NJ as well as in Norwalk, Danbury, and Newington, Conn. will commemorate the day that the tariffs were supposed to go into effect with a tequila tasting party on Monday, June 10, 2019 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 p.m.

Ridgewood, N.J.-based Valley Hospital received approval from the state planning committee June 6 to build a seven story, 362-bed replacement hospital, according to the North Jersey Record.
The new hospital, expected to be completed in 2023, will have single-patient rooms and a five-story parking garage. It will be in Paramus, N.J., about 2.5 miles from the hospital’s current location in Ridgewood.
Rezoning, building and equipping the new hospital is expected to cost $735 million.
Paramus NJ, a New York City-based fast casual chicken finger restaurant, is pleased to announce the Grand Opening of their 8th store this Friday, May 31, 2019 at the Outlets at Bergen Town Center in Paramus, NJ.

Paramus NJ, The adult male driver of a dark colored SUV lost control of his vehicle while exiting Route 4 eastbound at Ikea Drive in Paramus, causing the vehicle to leave the roadway and crash into a nearby wooded area, and a massive retaining wall. The incident occurred late Monday afternoon, 04/29. An adult female passenger in the SUV sustained a non life threatening head injury; two (2) children and the vehicle’s adult male driver were uninjured. Paramus Police and Paramus EMS responded to the mishap along with two (2) members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Regional SWAT Team (who just happened to be driving by the scene).

Paramus NJ, a utility pole was snapped at its base after being hit by a Subaru Impreza in the 700 block of Highland Avenue, Paramus late Saturday afternoon, 04/27. The vehicle’s adult male driver walked away from the wreckage with the assistance of a police officer. He was evaluated on the scene by members of a Paramus EMS ambulance. Highland Avenue was closed temporarily in both directions between Bush Place and Fern Place. PSE&G’s Electric Division was notified about the damaged pole.

GLOTZER (DOB: 9/7/1952; married; employed as an Environmental Health Specialist) of 8 South Farview Avenue, Apartment A, Paramus, New Jersey, on the charge of Possession of Child Pornography, greater than 1,000 files. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Robert Anzilotti.

Paramus NJ, looks like Ridgewood is not the only town to deal with a
disorderly goat. In the second in our series of “Goats of Bergen” the Ridgewood blog has learned that in 2015 the Paramus Police Department responded to calls of a disorderly goat headbutting a door in the Beech Lane area of town. Officers captured the goat who was located running in the roadway. The goat is pictured with Paramus Officer Jonathan Henderson. Assisting in the capture were Officers Christian Tsentas and Steve Nepola. The goat was turned over to Tyco Animal Control. Empty Kmart in Paramus scores a new use

The vacant, cavernous Kmart store in Paramus has been carpeted with artificial turf and been given a new, if temporary, lease on life as an indoor practice facility for North Jersey sports teams.
On Monday morning, the 91,000-square-foot, hangar-like building, which used to be crowded with store shelves and shoppers, rang with the shouts of two dozen youngsters kicking soccer balls and running drills.
The unusual arrangement meets two separate goals: a Bergen County entrepreneur’s need for a location with enough floor and ceiling space to accommodate several practice fields; and the landlord’s need for a short-term tenant until development plans for the shopping center are finalized.
Scott Vandersnow of Upper Saddle River this month opened the building as The Arena, an indoor training facility, and has begun renting the space out to youth sports teams. This week, the building is being used for youth soccer and lacrosse camps that Vandersnow is offering for parents who want their kids to stay active during the winter break.
Vandersnow, 41, grew up in Washington Township, has a background in finance and currently works in commercial real estate lending. He is also a soccer dad who has logged many hours watching or running practices for his 10-year-old daughter and 8-year-old son. He said he saw the need for more practice space in Bergen County and was looking for locations when he spotted the Kmart building.
The Kmart, which was built in 1979, closed a year ago after its lease expired. The building is in a strip shopping center owned by the Stop & Shop supermarket chain, and that also houses a Stop & Shop store.
