Trenton NJ, In 2015 Senator Loretta Weinberg introduced S-3125, legislation that would force Governor Christie to resign before he ran for President.

Yesterday, Democrats went in the other direction, passing S3106/A4674 on partisan lines, which would pave the way for Cory Booker to simultaneously run for President and United States Senate.

Rutgers–Camden report offers strategies for turning New Jersey’s distressed properties into community assets

Camden NJ, Recovery from the historic numbers of distressed properties in New Jersey – especially in South Jersey, which bears the brunt of the burden – may be possible through a coordinated effort of multisector stakeholders, according to a new report from Rutgers University–Camden.

“Through such efforts, these ‘toxic liabilities’ can become community assets by repurposing them as residential properties and fulfilling a demand for affordable workforce housing,” says Darren Spielman, executive director of the Senator Walter Rand Institute for Public Affairs.

Convictions Made in Multi-State Dog Fighting Case

TRENTON NJ,  Four men were convicted at trial in connection with their respective roles in a multi-state dog fighting operation, U.S. Attorney Craig Carpenito and Assistant Attorney General Jeffrey Clark of the Justice Department’s Environment and Natural Resources Division announced today.

New Jersey Danger Sign The State’s Shrinking Workforce

Ridgewood NJ,  according to the Garden State Initiative (GSI) analysis of September’s monthly jobs report for New Jersey showed continued, smaller gains for a state economy that is still struggling to regain last year’s workforce losses .

The bad news is that while New Jersey’s workforce grew in September, it is still smaller by 30,100 individuals compared to September last year. The state’s current workforce is also smaller than the state’s average workforce size in 2008.

New Jersey Senator, Cory Booker, accused of sexual assault by a man

Ridgewood NJ, New Jersey Senator, Cory Booker, accused of sexual assault by a man . Saturday an anonymous Twitter handle known as deep throat ( https://twitter.com/TheeDeepThroat ) published a very unsettling and detailed account of an alleged interaction that took place in a bathroom years ago between him and New Jersey Senator, Cory Booker.

In the allegation the man claimed he complimented Senator Booker ,who allegedly followed him into the bathroom, aggressively approaching him for oral sex in a stall. The man declined and escaped.

MARLBORO NJ, the League of Women Voters is holding a candidates’ forum at the Marlboro synagogue this Sunday October 21st . The candidates seeking to represent New Jersey’s sixth congressional district will be there. The incumbent Rep. Frank Pallone, a Democrat who has long represented the area, and challenger Rich Pezzullo, the conservative Republican who is looking to unseat him.

Rep. Pallone and Pezzullo confirmed they will be there. The candidates will be talking about the issues and fielding questions from the public. Pallone has represented New Jersey’s sixth district for years, which stretches from the Woodbridge area into New Brunswick and Aberdeen Twp. and down into Marlboro. It also hugs the northern New Jersey coast and includes the towns of Long Branch and Asbury Park. It’s a reliably blue district, having voted Democratic for years.

Morris Plains, NJ , the Webber for Congress campaign announced Jay Webber will not be sitting for an interview with the Star Ledger Editorial Board.

In the August 12th editorial, the board wrote “It’s impossible to say what voice Webber is hearing inside his head, ” seemingly implying that Assemblyman Webber has some kind of mental deficiency that is driving him to conclusions that they wrongly characterized as “lies.”

Retail Disaster : New Jersey Ranked Even Worse than New York in Sales Tax

Ridgewood NJ, according to the Tax Foundation New Jersey scored near the bottom , ranked 45th as on of the lowest-scoring states having a high sales tax rate, high excise tax rates, or apply the sales tax to a variety of business inputs. The states with the lowest scores on this component are Louisiana, Washington, Alabama, Arizona, Tennessee, and New Jersey.

Trenton NJ,  Phil Murphy’s hiring practices continue to come under scrutiny , a senior Murphy Administration official Joe Kelley was “investigated over an allegation he created a hostile work environment for women, and was cleared and hired, people familiar with the matter said,” according to a report issued tonight by The Wall Street Journal.

New Jersey Teacher Charged With Health Care Fraud

Nutley NJ,  A federal grand jury has indicted a New Jersey public school teacher for conspiring to defraud the N.J. School Employees’ Health Benefits Program (SEHBP) with phony claims for medically unnecessary prescriptions, U.S. Attorney Craig Carpenito announced today.

Jason Nardachone, 45, of Nutley, New Jersey, is charged with one count of conspiracy to commit health care fraud. He made his initial appearance Oct. 11, 2018, before U.S. Magistrate Judge Michael Hammer in Newark federal court.
