Reader says The ethics board told Delzio his complaints were nonsense

There was never any college requirement. The same residency rules have been in effect for decades. The ethics board told Delzio his complaints were nonsense. You stupid hashtags won’t make your lies true. Another thread post shows the civil service list predates her council service. So #delzioisaliar #lyibgwontmakeittrue #trustfacts #truthprevails #isupportsusan
Reader says Anti Mayor Group Should Stop Attacking the Ridgewood Police

file photo by Boyd Loving
I posted on the blog in support of the mayor and the police after reading the attacks on the police department. I’m not a member of the mayors so called crew and find your comment is offensive.
Why on heaven’s earth would the mayor or her supports bring the police into the conversation. The discussion of police stems from a complaint by Dan delzino that was dismissed by an ethics department.
Since the ethics violation was dismissed why did mr. Delzino take to the Ridgewood blog to anonymously attack the woman and the police.
I support mayor knudsen and do so without being part your fantasy crew. More like mr. Delzino has a crew attacking the mayor and police, delzino and his crew should stop.
Reader asks Would the RBSA and Council bring in someone who knows how to test for actual pollution in both the air and the soil?

Would the RBSA and Council bring in someone who knows how to test for actual pollution in both the air and the soil? Everyone is chiming in with what they think and what they “know” but unless an expert has done testing, who knows what is true? Such experts check the air and land quality before a school is built. At least in those cases, the children are inside and partially protected. With our children both completely outside and with home plate practically on the highway no one really knows what amounts they may be exposed to. Sound is also a problem but until we have an expert doing a pollution check, nothing more should go forward.
Reader suggests Lock Your Car or it should be assumed that you’re not just incredibly stupid but you want the car stolen

It seems like a large number or stolen cars are luxury vehicles with keys still in the car. Are they all really being stolen without the owners’ wishes? How many found they had bought a car they couldn’t afford and left it virtually open to be stolen? If insurance companies would wise up and not pay unless the vehicle seizure was not helped in any way by the owners. You would have to be blind, deaf, and dumb not to have seen the multiple police warnings. (and if you were all three, you can’t drive a car anyway.) If you want to keep your car, lock it up, and don’t leave valuable items in sight within it. Otherwise it should be assumed that you’re not just incredibly stupid but you want the car stolen.
Reader accuses Councilmember of not being Upfront with Their Views on Schedler

file photo by Boyd Loving
Hache did not tell tell the truth. After he was voted in , he said he walked Schedler and it would not be appropriate for a sports field. Knudsen and Sedon also said that. Because they want the votes of the sports people they are changing, thinking because the field is 50 instead of ninety feet they can please everyone. Well, eagles have been seen their, Knudsen admits that. They leave with human activity, and their chances for survival are slim when they leave their nests. Google bald eagle habitats. Plus the trees themselves and other wildlife. Natural areas at a minimum here already.
And Hache, Sedon and Knudsen will win next election time too, because most people will be satisfied.
Many New Jersey Towns Allowing Prepayment of Property Taxes

Jersey City NJ, Jersey City today said it will allow residents to prepay their entire 2018 estimated tax bills this year if they want to try to take advantage of a deduction the bill has curtailed.
Property taxes are now entirely deductible, but starting next year taxpayers will only be able to deduct up to $10,000. Residents in high-tax states like New Jersey have been flooding local tax collectors with calls asking to prepay their taxes this year so they can attempt to deduct them when they file their 2017 tax returns in April.
Jersey City had initially said it would cap prepayments of next year’s bill to two quarters , a common limit other New Jersey municipalities have , but Mayor Steve Fulop, a Democrat, said he decided today to allow residents to pay all four quarters this year.

IRS phone scam using the Ridgewood Police Departments phone number

Ridgewood NJ, Residents have reported that the latest round of IRS phone scams is spoofing the Ridgewood Police Departments phone number to make it appear that the call is coming from the Ridgewood Police.
How it works and what you can do to protect yourself.
Scammers make unsolicited calls claiming to be IRS officials. They demand that the victim pay a bogus tax bill. They con the victim into sending cash, usually through a prepaid debit card or wire transfer. They may also leave “urgent” callback requests through phone “robo-calls,” or via a phishing email.
Many phone scams use threats to intimidate and bully a victim into paying. They may even threaten to arrest, deport or revoke the license of their victim if they don’t get the money.
Scammers often alter caller ID numbers to make it look like the IRS or another agency is calling. The callers use IRS titles and fake badge numbers to appear legitimate. They may use the victim’s name, address and other personal information to make the call sound official.
Here are five things the scammers often do but the IRS will not do. Any one of these five things is a tell-tale sign of a scam.
The IRS will never:
* Call to demand immediate payment, nor will the agency call about taxes owed without first having mailed you a bill.
*
* Demand that you pay taxes without giving you the opportunity to question or appeal the amount they say you owe.
*
* Require you to use a specific payment method for your taxes, such as a prepaid debit card.
*
* Ask for credit or debit card numbers over the phone.
*
* Threaten to bring in local police or other law-enforcement groups to have you arrested for not paying.
If you get a phone call from someone claiming to be from the IRS and asking for money, here’s what you should do:
If you don’t owe taxes, or have no reason to think that you do:
* Do not give out any information. Hang up immediately.
*
* Contact TIGTA to report the call. Use their “IRS Impersonation Scam Reporting” webpage. You can also call 800-366-4484.
*
* Report it to the Federal Trade Commission. Use the “FTC Complaint Assistant” on FTC.gov. Please add “IRS Telephone Scam” in the notes.
If you know you owe, or think you may owe tax:
* Call the IRS at 800-829-1040. IRS workers can help you.
Stay alert to scams that use the IRS as a lure. Tax scams can happen any time of year, not just at tax time. For more, visit “Tax Scams and Consumer Alerts” on IRS.gov.
Each and every taxpayer has a set of fundamental rights they should be aware of when dealing with the IRS. These are your Taxpayer Bill of Rights. Explore your rights and our obligations to protect them on IRS.gov.
Reader says Chuck Johnson was right not to let his kids do the post-game handshake with Montclair after their supporters ran onto the field

Big end of game brawl yesterday btwn Hackensack and Teaneck.
Star Ledger had the story but Gannett / The Record did not.
And by the way, Chuck Johnson was right not to let his kids do the post-game handshake with Montclair after their supporters ran onto the field.
Ridgewood School Board : The fights were mutually conducted and were fueled by social media, with a genesis dating to this past August.

Ridgewood NJ, The Ridgewood High School Administration has completed its investigation into the serious incident that occurred two weeks ago. According to its investigation, the Administration has concluded there were two (2) fights between the same two (2) students: the first on Friday, October 27, 2017, and then on Saturday, October 28, 2017. Both fights occurred after school hours on school property. One student was injured. The fights were mutually conducted and were fueled by social media, with a genesis dating to this past August.
The District is aware that the Ridgewood Police Department has completed its investigation and has charged two students for their roles in the fights.

The Ridgewood Board of Education and Administration are concerned that the students chose to resolve their dispute with violence rather than to report their issues to school officials or an adult who could have taken action. Students regularly bring their concerns to school administration and that is why we have a low incidence of fighting and Harassment, Intimidation and Bullying (HIB). We are a school district and understand that students make mistakes in action and judgement and it is our job to administer consequences when necessary, teach better behavior, provide therapeutic counseling when warranted and accepted. Our schools regularly educate and counsel our students to make good decisions. We are proud of our students, but they need redirection when they make mistakes. Accordingly, the High School Administration will utilize it’s a variety of interventions, including the use of education, counseling and school discipline to discourage such behavior in the future.
District Administration is open and transparent whenever possible. However, due to student privacy laws, the Administration is unable to discuss individual students and disciplinary consequences that may be imposed.
While an investigation is ongoing, every attempt will be made to dispel rumors, but our focus must be on a thorough investigation and certainty of the final determination. Only the administrators and the police, when necessary, who are conducting the investigation know the pertinent facts. We would like to remind the public to be aware that the misuse of social media impedes an investigation when misinformation and falsehoods are disseminated. When working with children and adolescents, serious incidents sometimes occur. Our staff excels at dealing with serious situations and does so with compassion and care. While people might point fingers and make false accusations when students make poor decisions, we assure you our administrators always work towards resolution and a goal that students will learn from the experience. School officials and counselors are available to support and assist all students in learning from this unfortunate event.
