The Waldwick Police Department is currently investigating several reported burglaries to unlocked motor vehicles in the Evergreen and Salrit neighborhoods that occurred early Sunday morning. Wyckoff NJ, according to Wyckoff Police, early this morning (12/18/19), Officers from the Wyckoff Police Department responded to an active smoke condition in one of the lodges at the Eastern Christian Children’s Retreat. P.O. Oldewurtel immediately arrived on scene, and confirmed an active smoke condition in the Oak Lodge. He reported that the residents of the building had been evacuated by the staff and he entered the building, despite a heavy smoke condition, to confirm that all the residents and staff had been evacuated. Shortly thereafter, Sgt Pinches, P.O. Plisich, P.O. Bakelaar and P.O. Christopher arrived on scene and immediately began to search for any parties in need of medical assistance. They located three staff members complaining of difficulty breathing and chest pain. They were able to safely escort the patients through a chaotic scene and render first aid in the back of their patrol vehicles, which were parked a safe distance from the Oak Lodge. All of the officers involved also worked together to help coordinate the arrival and departure of numerous BLS and ALS units, which were having difficulty navigating through the scene.

Wyckoff NJ, RIDGEWOOD WATER has advised that they will continue making water main improvements at the intersection of Wyckoff & Cedar Hill Avenues on Tuesday. Work is planned to begin at 7:00 am and continue until 9:00 pm.
Traffic heading west on Wyckoff Avenue will not be impacted, but traffic traveling east (towards Midland Park) will be detoured around the work area.

Wyckoff NJ, The Wyckoff Police Department has established a “Safe Exchange Zone” in the front of the Wyckoff Police Department entrance, located at 340 Franklin Avenue, Wyckoff, NJ 07481(left side of the Municipal Building). The area by the “exchange sign” is video recorded 24hrs a day by state of the art security cameras. It should be noted that personnel are not in the police station at all times, thus it is recommended that the zone be used during normal business hours, Monday-Friday. If this is not possible, the area is recorded and routinely patrolled.

Wyckoff NJ, the Wyckoff Police report that on Tuesday evening, a resident of Wyckoff, who resides in the Spring Meadow area, reported that a coyote had taken their small family dog from their backyard which bordered a wooded area. A short time later, the dog was found but tragically, had succumbed to its injuries. Wyckoff Police responded and documented the incident and immediately contacted Tyco Animal Control, who is our contracted service. Tyco monitored the situation and is investigating, but there are certain State rules about what actions they can take at this time. As posted earlier this week, contact us, if an animal is acting aggressively or threatening so that we can contact animal control to respond. Wyckoff NJ, Acting Bergen County Prosecutor Dennis Calo announced the arrest of MATTHEW PLOTKIN (DOB: 08/01/1989; single; massage therapist) of Wyckoff, New Jersey, on charges of Sexual Assault. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Robert Anzilotti and the Allendale Police Department under the direction of Chief George Scherb.
