Andover NJ, an anonymous tip led to the New York Times let to the discovery of 17 bodies crowded into a four-person morgue at one of New Jersey’s largest nursing homes. Andover Police found the bodies this week at the Andover Subacute and Rehabilitation Center I and II in Sussex County, in northern New Jersey.

Ridgewood Nj, just one after the New Jersey Office of Homeland Security cautioned the public over disinformation on Monkey pox ,”Disinformation has the potential to incite panic, create distrust between the government and people, increase polarization, influence government actions or law enforcement responses, exhaust resources and bring about undue harm. Monkeypox (hMPXV) disinformation may cause people who are infected to avoid treatment or vaccination as they may feel stigmatized, hampering efforts to help those individuals and curb the outbreak.”

Camden NJ, The U.S. Center for Disease Control (CDC) and the state Department of Health have confirmed a case of monkeypox in Camden County. The Camden County Health Department has completed contact tracing, treatment and is currently investigating the case to ensure a vaccine is available for all close contacts.

Ridgewood NJ, Investigations into growing outbreaks of monkeypox virus continue in at least 15 countries where the disease usually is not endemic. As of publication, health authorities have identified 160 confirmed cases and at least 80 suspected cases in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Israel, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the US, and UK.* No cases have yet to be confirmed in South America, although Argentina has reported a suspected case. The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) today issued a risk assessment warning that if the current outbreaks in Europe are not brought under control quickly, there is a risk that monkeypox could become endemic if the virus spreads into an animal population.

Ridgewood NJ, Monkeypox was first discovered in 1958 when two outbreaks of a pox-like disease occurred in colonies of monkeys kept for research, hence the name ‘monkeypox.’ The first human case of monkeypox was recorded in 1970 in the Democratic Republic of Congo during a period of intensified effort to eliminate smallpox. Since then monkeypox has been reported in humans in other central and western African countries.

Today, with the health and safety of our community as our utmost concern, we are beginning to determine our path forward to a new chapter for Rutgers as we recover from the unprecedented crisis of COVID-19. Rutgers will weather this storm, but our university—and indeed all of higher education—confronts perhaps the greatest academic and operational challenge in its history.

I am writing now to share with you the immediate strategy for the University as we respond to the effects of the pandemic. Most news comes by way of the political filter of either CNN/MSNBC/ABC/CBS/NBC/PBS, which all hate Trump to varying degrees, and will present “the facts” in a way that hopes you vote for their guy, Biden, at the end of the year.
