Ridgewood NJ, on June 16, Scout Troop 7 in Ridgewood will celebrate a significant achievement as five of its members receive the prestigious Eagle Scout Awards. This honor, the highest in Scouting, is a testament to the dedication and hard work of these young men, guided by Scout Masters David Jones and Ketan Patel. Achieving this rank is no small feat; only 8% of Scouts nationwide earn it.
Meet the Eagle Scouts and Their Projects
Tej Patel, Jaywu Jun, Bobby McCabe, Joshua Fishkin, and Read Hamon will be honored at a ceremony held at West Side Presbyterian Church in Ridgewood. Let’s take a closer look at each Scout and their impressive Eagle projects:
Joshua Nosrati Fishkin
- Age: 18
- Parents: Leila Nosrati Fishkin and Peter Fishkin
- School: Ridgewood High School, Senior
- Eagle Project: Joshua created shelves and provided books for K-1 classrooms at Paterson Charter School for Science and Technology, enhancing the learning environment for young students.
Read Philip Hamon
- Age: 17
- Parents: Julie and Jeffrey Hamon
- School: Ridgewood High School, Junior
- Eagle Project: Read built benches and wood holders for the renovated fireplace meeting area at Kearney Scout House, contributing to a more comfortable and functional community space.
Jaywu Jun
- Age: 18
- Parents: Hyewon and Seung Jun
- School: Ridgewood High School, Senior
- Eagle Project: Jaywu constructed planter boxes at Ridgecrest Senior Housing in Ridgewood, bringing a touch of nature and beauty to the residents’ environment.
Robert Edward McCabe
- Age: 17
- Parents: Jennifer and Bill McCabe
- School: Ridgewood High School, Senior
- Eagle Project: Bobby enhanced the pick-up and drop-off area of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Ridgewood by installing benches and planters, creating a more welcoming and organized space.
Tej Mistry Patel
- Age: 18
- Parents: Niti Mistry Patel and Ketan Patel
- School: Bergen County Academies, Hackensack, Senior
- Eagle Project: Tej designed and built a stepping stone pathway at Thielke Arboretum in Glen Rock, improving access and enjoyment of the natural area for visitors.
