Christie signs law targeting texting while driving

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) – Gov. Chris Christie has signed legislation that orders the installation of signs throughout New Jersey to remind drivers not to text and drive.

The measure, known as “Nikki’s Law, is named after Nikki Kellenyi, an 18-year-old Washington Township resident who was killed in an April 2012 vehicle crash.

  2. Stop signs don’t work nor do yield signs. What makes him think these will work?

  3. How ridiculous. Signs are not going to change behavior. Pulling people over and taking away their licenses might make them stop texting. Might.

  4. Agree totally with #3, same goes for the police.

  5. A young woman bolted out of Moxie 2 while texting on her phone and rushed into the street toward Moxie 1 right in front of my car. Is the RPD going to issue summonses to these distracted jaywalking pedestrians too?
