Civility Roundtable Meeting – Monday, March 9th
Following up on the February 24th Civility Roundtable, residents are invited to attend the next meeting on March 9th . We will explore how communication and behavior shape our perspectives. The meeting will be held at 7:30pm in the Senior Lounge at Village Hall.
Rev. Jan Phillips will lead the discussion. Everyone is welcome to attend.
PLEASE MAKE HIM STOP. The Mayor is beating a dead horse. They should start having meeting about THE OPEN PUBLIC MEET ACT and THE SUNSHINE LAW.
Ben Carson just: 1) admitted that he disbelieves that people are “born this way”, a la Lady GaGa; and then, seemingly struck with remorse for engaging in such uncivil public discourse, almost immediately 2) apologized profusely for hurting the feelings of thousands of nameless and faceless ‘innocents’.
Here’s one (Uncivil? Honest?) reaction to action #2, found on fr.com:
It makes him appear “dumb”. And that is what the homofascists want-—to discredit anyone who knows that their evil, dysfunctional lifestyle promotion is going to collapse civil society and flip 2000 years of Good and Evil and normalize paganism, satanism and Ba’al worship in the children.
There is no other religion, but Christianity, which is aligned with Natural Law Theory (embedded philosophy of the US Constitution)-—”laws of Nature and nature’s God” which supports the Justice System of our Founders-—where Good and Evil is Universal Truth and NEVER evolves. Using human beings as a Means to an End is unjust always, using people in disgusting, degrading manner-—as sodomy always does—can NOT be promoted in a “Justice” (virtue) System.
It flips Good and Evil and erases Christianity. Without sexual morality—there is no Christian “faith” allowed in the public square. Franklin Graham is correct——Christians are going to be punished and there will be no possibility of religious freedom for Christians who are not willing to tell their little boys to take Pride in anal sex.
The homofacists are promoting Satanism and trying to normalize their muslim behaviors in little children, and making Satanism or Luciferean the National Religion of America-—flipping the Ethics System of America to the old pagan, muslim ones where Good and Evil is relative-—Might makes Right-—Rule of Man——
And we will have eliminated Rule of Law (Higher Law than irrational man-made up base urges “law”) which used to be America’s system prior to FDR and Oliver Wendell Holmes, jr. who deformed the Language and Words——twists “justice” to be meaningless as all good Marxists do. He let the camel under the tent-—to completely destroy our “Justice” System and reduce it to Stalin’s justice systems which is tyranny and evil.

Why don’t we explore how government-organized efforts to redefine what is and what is not an acceptable way for citizens to publicly express themselves always devolve into efforts to impose unconstitutional prior restraints on their free speech rights?
Pretty soon we’re going to see unofficial claims of a million village residents regularly attending these public meetings and clamoring for government to force people they disagree with to shut their traps lest they be tarred and feathered or forced to wear clothing bearing a predetermined scarlet letter.
Now that would be a truly new normal!

Can we define how civil it was the way they treated Councilwoman Knudsen last night???? PUCCIARELLI was like a thug with his sarcastic retorts in the face of her comments.
I presume Councilwoman K. said something reasonable or supportive of what the average resident would expect the council to do, Councilman P. disagreed with her because of some personal agenda he’s got going, and, because he’s one of the three amigos, he had license to ridicule her in accordance with the “new normal” of civil discourse in Ridgewood. What got him spun up this time?

Susan’s zinger begins at 2:16:20, but back it up a bit and listen to what Mike Sedon says about the fact that the local hiring law has been broken repeatedly in the past 25 years. Now the three amigos want to change the law to reflect the way it has been followed (illegally). In other words, they have been breaking the law all along, so let’s change the law.
Susan claims that the Open Public Meetings Act was broken last week when they made her leave the closed session and go home. At one point Albert actually got sarcastic about it, and Susan came right back at him for his snotty comment.
Susan and Michael were aces, absolutely on point and the other three were a total train wreck.
these meetings are a complete joke. surely there must be a few things more important on the TO DO list for our village government? Enough already.
Thanks, 7:39. Ms. Knudsen appears to have been deceptively advised to recuse herself when the statute required no such thing.
This is uncivil in the extreme.
One’s mind further boggles at the inexplicable statement by Atty. Rogers that although for 25 years the town has been acting ‘inconsistent with the ordinance’ in failing to accord Ridgewood residents hiring preferences when the ordinance required such preference, this does not mean that the village has been ‘breaking the law’. What the heck is the difference between acting inconsistent with an ordinance, and breaking the law, other than using about five extra syllables to say the same darn thing? And the cure for this is to change the ordinance, not fix the hiring practice? You’re right, Mr. Sedon and Ms. Knudson, the real news story here is not a defective ordinance, but a systematic flouting of a law leading to a generation’s worth of Ridgewood-based applicants being improperly snubbed in favor of non-residents.
Ignorance of the law is no excuse. The village manager and village attorney sound concerned about improperly snubbed residents potentially seeking to undo some recent hiring decisions.
The mayor is trying to “Gin Up” his base so he can” Drill Down ” his votes for the next election. He has to “Double Down” on these meeting so he can “Move Forward ” on his agenda

You are so right about the Village Attorney. breaking the law is breaking the law. If I have been robbing a bank each week for 25 years, should we now change the law so that I can legally do so. Mike Sedon was right on target about that.
And uncivil is a charitable way to describe how they treated Knudsen. They broke the law, the Sunshine Law.
