Wyckoff NJ, , the bipartisan Stop Bad Robocalls Act, cosponsored by U.S. Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5), passed the House and will head to the Senate for a vote. The bill specifies that consumers should not face additional charges for having robocalls blocked through authentication technology and sets reasonable deadlines for the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to prescribe regulations to help fight against scammers.
“All over the country, seniors are being preyed on by scammers looking to cheat them out of their hard-earned money,” said Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5). “It’s unacceptable and I’m glad this legislation takes steps to protect the seniors in our community for these disgusting attempts to make a quick buck. That’s also why I introduced my Senior Security Act, which would help protect our seniors as well. I urge my Senate colleagues to take up this common sense, bipartisan bill.”
