Ridgewood NJ, a new CNN poll reveals a sobering reality for the Democratic Party — favorability ratings have plummeted to their lowest level on record. Conducted by SSRS from March 6–9, the survey shows only 29% of Americans view the Democratic Party favorably, a 20-point drop since January 2021. This marks the lowest approval rating for the party in CNN’s polling history, dating back to 1992.

What’s even more concerning? Much of the dissatisfaction is coming from within the party itself.

⚠️ Democratic Voters Are Losing Faith in Their Own Leadership

Among Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents, just 63% report a favorable view of their own party, down from 81% at the beginning of President Joe Biden’s administration. Even more telling, a slim majority (52%) say the Democratic leadership is taking the party in the wrong direction.

This internal divide highlights a shift in how Democrats view their party’s priorities, leadership, and future.

???? Fight or Collaborate? Democrats Want a More Aggressive Approach

According to the poll, 57% of Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents believe their party should focus on stopping the Republican agenda, rather than collaborating with the GOP to advance Democratic policies. Only 42% support working across the aisle.

This marks a dramatic shift from September 2017, when 74% of Democrats supported bipartisan cooperation under the Trump administration.

The growing frustration came to a head when 10 Democratic senators, including Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, voted with Republicans to pass a GOP-authored spending bill — an act that drew backlash from progressive circles.

???? How the GOP Stacks Up

The Republican Party currently holds a 36% favorability rating, which, while also low, stands 7 points higher than the Democrats. Republican voters remain more unified, with 79% expressing a positive view of their party — compared to just 63% of Democrats feeling the same.

???? Independents Disenchanted with Both Parties

Independents aren’t impressed either. Only 19% have a favorable view of Democrats, and 20% feel the same about Republicans. The overwhelming majority of independents see both major political parties as “too extreme” and out of touch with mainstream America.

???? Who Represents Democratic Values? Voters Are Divided

Asked to name the Democratic leader who best reflects the party’s core values, responses were split:

  • Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez: 10%

  • Vice President Kamala Harris: 9%

  • Sen. Bernie Sanders: 8%

  • House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries: 6%

  • Others named include Barack Obama and Rep. Jasmine Crockett

A staggering 30% of respondents couldn’t name anyone. Some simply replied, “No one — that’s the problem.”

This lack of consensus underscores the Democratic Party’s struggles with messaging and leadership identity heading into the 2024 election cycle.

???? Demographics Paint a Mixed Picture

Support for Democratic leadership varies significantly across demographics:

  • Women (57%), people of color (57%), and non-college-educated voters (60%) are more likely to believe party leadership is heading in the right direction.

  • White college graduates (32%) and men (38%) are far less confident.

Moderates are the only Democratic-aligned group leaning slightly toward bipartisan cooperation, with 51% preferring collaboration over confrontation.

???? Final Thoughts: A Party at a Crossroads

The Democratic Party faces a critical juncture. With favorability at an all-time low, leadership support fractured, and independents rejecting both parties, the pressure is on for Democrats to redefine their message, unify their base, and clarify their direction before the 2024 election season heats up.

As political polarization deepens and voter confidence erodes, the party’s next moves will be crucial in shaping its future — and whether it can rebuild trust among its own supporters.

  1. Such a classic picture above. Hillary Clinton didn’t deserve to win that election. She pandered to inner cities with celeberties last minute just like kamala cause they knew they needed the black vote. The media lied in the 2020 campaign too when they said Trump called soldiers that died suckers and losers. I hope trump appointees get to business. Whats up with Bobby Kennedy the other day promoting vaccines after the measles. Why the flip flop. Wheres Kash Patel. Hes got work to do bringing down the deep state and solve the assasination attemps on Trump life. But take it from me and guy who watched cnn and fox for 15 years straight and then swtiched to youtube the past 5. I know the political landscape. I know the agneda. Its hitting us at home. We need to be more educated and talk to eachother. thats the only way we can make progress. We can sit here distracted with our heads in the sand and just go along with this or we can challenge those in authority to make this world a better place. We need to get to our roots. We were once hunters and gatherers, farmers and ranchers…now were all out here doing something different. We should do a deep reflection into ourselves and our position on earth. What can we really do to make it a better place?

  2. Where are all these nitwits living now China?

  3. The Dems were basically finished when manufacturing and blue collar work greatly diminished. They replaced them with this quilt of misfits. The only thing that has kept the support up is the news media, which is overwhelmingly leftist. 2024 was a new age of new media and a proper oversight in place to ensure a non-repeat of the 2020 election. They clearly have a very vocal support system and the street mobs and Tesla vandals. They are unelectable in their current form.
