Deputy Mayor Knudsen decided to correct the misinformation that’s being propagated by the One Village One Vote group, she pointed out the inaccuracies in Matt Lindenberg’s post that > 2% annual increase in Budget automatically calls out the budget vote and clarified that use of exceptions/ exemptions the BOE budget can exceed 2% without a November vote, Dan Creed further clarified that the exception items can easily hit the 10% increase without an actual Budget vote, he also explained that through ‘Bank the difference’ any year where the budget doesn’t increases 2%, the Difference can be reserved for next year, essentially the tax payers have no control on this perpetual increase without the budget vote.
Village One Vote group that is looking to take away Ridgewood residents right to vote on the Ridgewood School budget. Using a ruse claiming non November elections are low turnout and therefor expensive . The group omits to mention that to eliminate the April vote would eliminate the school budget vote . The Ridgewod School budget currently stands at $111,000,000 and accounts for over 60% of your tax dollars
Matt Lindenberg also expressed his inability to counter the numbers that Dan posted and the arguments that Susan had, this is the reason that the One Village group does not want to have such discussions on one of the open social media pages, they do not have an argument against the budget vote and they also do not have an argument against April nonpartisan elections which were seen as a reform measure to keep the national politics away from local issues. So, choose to put lies at a censored site.
Siobhan Winograd is one of the admins of the page and she has blocked multiple residents from her profile, the page admin role enables her to read the comments and respond to the posts, where as the person blocked by her is not able to see her responses and is not able to counter her comment, She commented on the posts and she asked for data to be provided for the % of people who voted for BOE elections but since she has blocked almost anyone countering her in past, so doesn’t gets a response! She refuses to believe that the low % of Votes during April elections is not much different from the November and anyone who chooses to Vote is able to do so in April on budget but not in November.
If you read tge whole conversation you see that this group is spreading lies in order to advance their destructive agenda. I am a member of that stupid Facebook page and it is great entertainment. A bunch of losers trying to amplify their egos. Including douchebag Voigt
