Ridgewood NJ, last night the Ridgewood Planning Board pushed back the next hearing date to January 7,2020 on the 2 beautiful old homes, on large properties, on N Maple Ave are in danger of being knocked down to create a sub-division, with 8 new homes on a Cul De Sac. The houses are 232 & 250 N Maple Ave- Directly across from the Stable, and the Stable parking lot.

These homes were built in 1898 & 1902 and their loss would be tragic to Ridgewood’s history. 4 of the 8 new homes would need variances.

A reader reported :

“No, the houses are still owned by the Donlan’s and Bloods, who are running the show themselves (unusual), or at least that’s what they are saying. The word “developer” in the headline was added by the blog and incorrect.

At the hearing, the project attorney and engineer said they didn’t know what would happen if they got approval. Maybe a developer would buy everything and build on spec, or each lot would be sold separately and the owners would find their own architects. It was all so vague that the board couldn’t believe it. “When will you know?” one board member asked them. Shrugs.

The board attorney instructed the applicants to issue a revised notice. The next hearing date was set for January 7, 2020. They asked for that much time to get their ducks in a row.”

  1. It is just a matter of time before another historical chunk of RW is swallowed by builders. I see a lot of people on FB expressing concern about this site , about how Rw is losing its character etc. However I would like to remind that many of them either voted for Aronsohn or happily embraced the garage and the new apartment buildings. So I am sorry but you should have used your brain a little more and think about long term consequences. You’re seeing just the start of an avalanche of buildings, sub divisions etc. that will totally transfrom RW to some XYZ city place.

  2. remind me again…. how is this town getting crappier every day?
    .
    Oh right. I remember now…
    .

  3. And most of those lovely trees will be destroyed as well.
I’m not a tree hugger, but come on…it will look like crap jamming multiple houses in there.

  4. And we should all thank the planning board members for taking many precautions.
I sat at this meeting. Barely anyone in attendance and the members didn’t buy what the lawyers were selling.

  5. The presentation was frankly pathetic, fortunately.

  6. Rutherford is the attorney on most of these Subdivision and mcmansion requests…
