Ridgewood NJ, The holiday season is here and nothing is quite like being able to watch our favorite holiday movies…and TV episodes? The team at USDish.com just published a report that shows what Americans are watching around the holiday season, including the most-watched and highest-rated TV show holiday episodes.
Check out our report, “The Most-Popular TV Episodes and Shows around the Holiday Season,” which includes data for Thanksgiving, and starting in December will have Christmas, and New Year’s Eve.
Here are some interesting Thanksgiving findings:
Friends dominated Thanksgiving. Out of the 15 most popular episodes watched on the American holiday, 10 were from Friends.
This is Us is the second most-watched show by Americans for Thanksgiving.
Comedy and romance are hits around Thanksgiving. 14 out of the 15 episodes were categorized as comedy, while 13 out of the 15 episodes were romance.
To determine the most popular TV episodes around the holiday season, the data analysts at USDish.com analyzed each episode on IMDb. We narrowed it down to episodes produced between 1990–2020, with over 1,500 IMDb votes, a rating of 7.5 or above, and included keywords such as “Thanksgiving,” “Christmas,” or “New Year’s Eve.” We also found each episode’s viewership number on TV Listings before finalizing the most-popular episodes by viewership.
