Ridgewood NJ, several recent studies suggest masks have no effect of preventing COVID. Alameda County Ca, reimposed a mask mandate last month, alone among counties in the San Francisco Bay Area. Its COVID numbers were indistinguishable from its neighbors.

Eric Ting of SFGATE reports:
“The case rate curves for Alameda and Contra Costa counties are near-identical. Because the neighboring counties are similar in so many respects, if masking policy had an impact on pandemic outcomes, one would expect to see some sort of discrepancy in the graph.”
Also published over the weekend was a study from Fargo, North Dakota, which has two school districts, one of which was subject to a mask mandate for a large portion of last school year when the other was not.
The authors write:
“We observed no significant difference between student case rates while the districts had differing masking policies (IRR 0.99; 95% CI: 0.92 to 1.07) nor while they had the same mask policies (IRR 1.04; 95% CI: 0.92 to 1.16).”
The evidence is increasingly clear that masks don’t work.
Like we bin saying wash your hands.
Cover your mouth when eating, and when you sneeze and cough.
Thanks.
Masks absolutely do work. They wear them in the operating room. Haven’t you heard of the Germ Theory? Or is that above your IQ capacity
evidence says no , follow the science and you don’t live in an operating room as for IQ I think the lack of oxygen from mask wearing has shrunk your brain
Shut up sheep.
Shut up sheep
Anonymous, insults do not bolster your argument unless you are in the third grade. What they do, or don’t do, in ORs is trumped by empirical evidence (statistical significance as demonstrated in studies above) . Additionally, surgical mask size is geared toward bacteria which have a much larger particle size than viruses. In the future, be mindful that critical thinking and the scientific method involve reasonable hypothesis formation and objective testing, not starting with an emotionally-anchored opinion, doggedly pursuing only evidence that bolsters it and ignoring any evidence that refutes it.
Sheep.
The problem is, mask-wearing has been well and truly baked into the Dems. Covid and mask wearing was drilled into them as part of the 2020 election campaign. No amount of new data will shift that mindset.
The SFGate article is about whether *mandates* work, not masks.
It points out that if mandates are not enforced or if people wear low-quality masks or wear them incorrectly…then yes, mandates don’t help.
The article continues to report that N95 masks worn properly do indeed make a difference.
“It’s rare for physicians to catch the virus while wearing N95 masks” it continues, “even when interacting with patients who have tested positive.”
Yes, masks work just like the vaccine will keep you from getting COVID and stop the spread!
And the new data shows that the majority of new Covid cases were vaccinated people. I think CNN ran that story at 3am.
Of Course Masks Work…. they work on controlling the population.
As it relates to stopping the spread of an airborne virus with a particle size smaller than the mask filtration, then NO. Masks do not work…
