Washington DC, Dr. Anthony Fauci, the former director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) and a key figure in the nation’s COVID-19 pandemic response, announced on Monday that he plans to accept a preemptive pardon offered by President Joe Biden.
White House Offer and Fauci’s Response
Fauci revealed in an email to The Hill that the White House approached him with the pardon about a month ago. He emphasized that he did not request clemency but is “very appreciative and grateful” for the gesture.
The pardon covers any offenses from January 1, 2014, to January 19, 2025, related to Fauci’s roles as NIAID director, a member of the White House COVID-19 task force or response team, or chief medical adviser to the president.
Addressing Political Threats
In a separate statement, Fauci firmly denied any wrongdoing, describing the pardon as a protective measure against politically motivated threats of prosecution.
“Let me be perfectly clear: I have committed no crime and there are no possible grounds for any allegation or threat of criminal investigation or prosecution of me,” Fauci said. “However, the mere articulation of these baseless threats creates immeasurable and intolerable distress for me and my family.”
Fauci has been a target of criticism from former President Trump and his allies, who opposed his guidance on masking mandates, vaccination campaigns, and other pandemic measures. Despite these controversies, Fauci remains a respected figure, having served as an advisor to seven U.S. presidents from Ronald Reagan to Joe Biden.
Broader Clemency Efforts
Fauci’s pardon is part of a broader clemency initiative by President Biden. Other recipients include Gen. Mark Milley, staff members of the House committee investigating the January 6 Capitol attack, and police officers who testified before the committee.
Legacy and Impact
Dr. Fauci, widely regarded as the face of the U.S. COVID-19 response, played a central role in navigating the country through one of the most challenging public health crises in history. His work and public statements often sparked political debate but were grounded in decades of medical and scientific expertise.

He funded gain of function research in China with your tax dollars that created the virus and lied to Congress about it. Stand up guy.
Why would he worry? He organized a campaign to discredit practicing virologists and doctors who offered alternative treatments to the vax, which we now know was useless for nearly everyone.
He forced everyone to take an experimental gene therapy drug (still not approved) that is made by the funders of his agency – that is starting to show massive public health ramifications with increased levels of cancers and other disease.
Great public servant.
People are so stupid. He fooled a lot of you to give your kids that shot. Wake up.
He is a great servant.
He did what he was told. His values, I assume, are simpatico with those of his bosses, so I’m sure it was also a joy to serve. Great servant. So good. Really fantastic.
