The life long DC bureaucrat has constantly missed the mark most notably on face-masks , but also telling Americans in January , “Americans have nothing to worry about” , then later massively over estimating death tolls . While the main stream media attempts to discredit his critics the consummate publicly hound Fauci has left a significant public record of his prognostication missteps .

Oh, we’re holding people accountable for their poor predictions, now? Where’s the angry posts about “It’s going to magically disappear”, “It’ll be gone by easter, a miracle”, “It’ll be gone with warm weather”, and literally every other thing out of POTUS’s mouth?

What’s going down in the south? More covid cases? Texas puts in a statistic everyone who was in contact with a confirmed covid case, even if they were never tested. FL puts bike accident deaths into covid stats. With all that noise, I’m certain of only 3 things:
1. Until elections, stats are political, not scientific.
2. Covid ain’t nearly as deadly as advertised and while no one wants to get sick, no, I repeat, NO mandatory lockdowns, social distancing or mask wearing is justified. It doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t be encouraged to do these things individually, but we shouldn’t force people who do not want to.
3. If you’re scared of covid, stay safe and stop dictating what the rest of us should do. I didn’t care about covid when it raged in Bergen and I don’t care about it raging in FL. Protect the immune compromised and stop dictating to the rest how to live.

Dr. Fauci is very respected in his field. I, for one am going to follow his directions.

I think people may not understand what “novel” coronavirus means. Its new. Any prediction is likely to be a bad one. Somehow coming to the conclusion that we should be under cautious now because he was wrong about being under cautious then is a irresponsible argument. The amount of immunocompromised people in this country is a significant percentage. High blood pressure, diabetes, lupus, crohns disease, etc…Everybody is tough until their family gets hit. Dr Fauci has been warning about the dangers in a calm rational voice since this has begun and any rational person who has been paying attention knows that .

So many people are making statements about statistics, scientific process, or basic health procedures….without having a basic understanding of how any of it works. If you attack a person because you disagree with him, or ignore numbers because you do not like what they imply – you are making a fool of yourself
