Hackensack, NJ – A month-long investigation into a terrifying neighborhood shooting has ended with a Jersey City arrest and the seizure of multiple firearms and hundreds of rounds of ammunition.

Kenneth G. Chin, 42, of Hackensack, is facing a litany of felony charges after police linked him to a March incident where a bullet was fired through an apartment window while a vehicle was idling in a local driveway.


The Incident: A Shot Through the Window

The investigation began on the evening of March 16. According to Hackensack Police, a suspect parked in a driveway on Broadway just before 8:00 PM. A single round of 9mm ammunition was fired through a residential apartment window.

While the shot shattered the glass and the neighborhood’s sense of security, authorities confirmed that no one was injured in the shooting.


The Search: Guns and 200 Rounds of Ammo

Hackensack detectives eventually identified Chin as the primary suspect. On Monday, April 13, police tracked him to Jersey City, where he was taken into custody without incident.

Following the arrest, a search of Chin’s Ridgefield Park residence uncovered a significant stash of weaponry, including:

  • A Keltec Sub2000: A semi-automatic pistol-caliber carbine.

  • A Sig Sauer P365: A popular 9mm subcompact pistol.

  • Ammunition: Approximately 200 rounds of various live ammunition.


Legal Fallout: Multiple Weapons Charges

Chin is now facing serious legal repercussions in Bergen County. The charges filed against him include:

  • Possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose

  • Certain persons not to have weapons (indicating a prior legal restriction on firearm ownership)

  • Unlawful possession of a weapon

  • Criminal mischief

  • Hindering apprehension

Chin was transported to the Bergen County Jail, where he currently awaits his first appearance at the Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack.
