Ridgewood NJ, Late Saturday morning, June 22nd, an unexpected incident unfolded on North Maple Avenue in Ridgewood, leaving three parked vehicles damaged. The incident involved an 84-year-old driver of a Mercedes SUV who lost control of the vehicle, resulting in a series of collisions.
The Incident
The driver, traveling southbound on North Maple Avenue, veered off the road, mounted the curb, drove over the sidewalk, and crashed through some evergreen shrubbery. The Mercedes finally came to rest in a strip mall’s parking lot, causing significant damage along the way.
Damage and Response
Three unoccupied vehicles were damaged in the crash. At least two of the vehicles, including the Mercedes SUV, sustained extensive damage, necessitating their removal by tow trucks.
Despite the severity of the crash, the elderly driver refused medical attention. Ridgewood Police Department, along with Ridgewood Fire Department and EMS, promptly responded to the scene to manage the situation and ensure safety.

the driver should be required to have their vision tested and to take a road test to retain a drivers license.
Thankfully nobody walking on the sidewalk or standing next to one of the parked cars crashed into. This amount of damage doesn’t happen going 25mph. Need to enforce speed limits.
That actually means they have to work ,for their over 100K job.. Really?
More BS from the control f@$cists with the 25mph.
Just a long slow planned policy to ban all non-autonomous vehicles.
No NJ politician with any expectation of remaining in office is ever going to propose legistlation that will make seniors take vision tests over and above the current 10-years.
Why not say where this happened?
The old ‘Kings” parking lot, near the cleaners, across from the overly expensive and unnecessary new Ridgewood Water building.
It wasnt RW who demanded the new building . . . they were pushed out of Village Hall so more RPD could have offices. They had to put them someplace.
Thank you.
Uhnm…. it’s right there in the article and pictures. Why not read and look.

A cop in ridgewood once told me that if they had to ticket all the cars exceedingly speed limit they wouldn’t get anything else done – so good luck with that
And by “anything else” they meant collecting overtime parked in their cruisers texting their friends.
