Fair Lawn NJ, Fair Lawn has achieved Film Ready certification from the New Jersey Motion Picture & Television Commission, marking it as one of the initial Film Ready communities in North Jersey. This certification is anticipated to attract more film shoots to the borough, enhancing its appeal as a cinematic destination.
The certification process, finalized in November, involved educating officials about motion picture and television production basics, accommodating location shooting, and strategizing Fair Lawn’s promotion as a cinematic destination. Ryan Greff, Executive Director of Fair Lawn Main Street Inc., highlighted the town’s diverse locations, ranging from pre-colonial Tudor England-style homes in the Radburn district to a city appeal in the Broadway Route 4 district.
Fair Lawn’s Film Ready status means it is part of Reel-Scout, a platform hosting a digital location library and serving as a project management system between towns and filming studios. Fair Lawn Main Street Inc. actively contributes photos of numerous locations in the borough to Reel-Scout, showcasing its potential for filmmakers.
Several town ordinances were adjusted to facilitate filming, designating the borough manager’s office as the film liaison and reducing fees for smaller film studios. Fair Lawn has been featured in past movie and TV productions, such as “The Sopranos,” “Ransom,” and “The Other Guys.”
