Fair Lawn NJ, according to Fair Lawn Police, there has been an uptick in Facebook scams. A post is created in Facebook marketplace and/or a regular post in which they will show they are selling something. It may even show they are from the town so it looks really trustworthy. The scammer will ask for a deposit via Venmo/cashapp/zelle etc. give an address and your next trip will be to the police station to make a fraud report.
Please do not send money unless you have the item in hand! No deposits! If things are too good to be true it usually is!
