Jersey City NJ, five years ago, Mayushi Bhagat left her Jersey City apartment in pajama pants and was never seen again. Despite efforts by family and friends, including a fundraiser, to find her, there are still no answers nearly five years later. Last month, the FBI Newark Field Office announced a new $10,000 reward for information about the missing student. Mayushi, born in India on July 12, 1994, was in the U.S. on an F1 student visa, studying at the New York Institute of Technology.
Detectives mentioned that she has friends in South Plainfield, New Jersey, and provided details about her physical appearance and circumstances of her disappearance. Friends initiated a fundraiser, stating that the search for Mayushi had taken an emotional and financial toll on the family. She arrived in the U.S. in 2016, initially attending the University of New Hampshire before transferring to the New York Institute of Technology.
In 2019, reports indicated that Mayushi had texted her father that she was okay but wouldn’t return until May 3. However, her father expressed doubts about the message’s authenticity, as it didn’t sound like her. Her parents’ attempts to contact her on May 1 went unanswered, prompting her father to seek help from the Jersey City police.
