7:45am keep in mind it takes two to tango both parties are guilty. Time for the voters of this state to consider getting rid of home rule and consolidate police,fire,and overpriced schools. A big plus is get rid of estate and inheritance taxes.
I am with 7:45. There is nothing special about having our own police department. I do not feel any closer to any of them. We have too many administrators. County police would be more efficient.
Why do we need Police Chiefs for Ridgewood, Glen Rock, Midland Park, Waldwick, Ho-Ho-Kus and Paramus? Six chiefs for twenty five square miles plus the Bergen County Sheriff ? That’s also $750K+ a year in future pension costs for life that cannot be ignored either, someone has to pay the bills.
All of the cops I know hate Christie because he enacted reforms . Without those reforms they would continue with raises in salary and benefits despite facing economic reality like the private sectors .
Many retirees are in “exile” out of nj for 181 days per year to become residents in fla or else hen that the state inheritance tax doesn’t punish their beneficiaries. Whilenthienhomes in nj are vacant for the time they are elsewhere ,they are not spending money here on goods,msrrvicew, meals etc which hurts nj businesses and the state misses out on sales taxes.
Forcing retirees ( who subsidize those with kids in school) to sell will eventually be the tipping point financially for nj.
