For Kaufman – It’s all about “ME”

the staff of the Ridgewood blog

Ridgewood NJ, Cris Kaufman is running again for the three year term for Ridgewood School Board Trustee.

In his announcement to run for the board, he mentioned “Lastly, I have chosen to run with my friend Mahmoud.”
This raises questions about his decision to vote to appoint Mahmoud on the board in Sept 2019 for the seat vacated by resignation of Christina Krauss. Did Kaufman appoint Mahmoud because he was his friend? Remember Mahmoud only attended 1 meeting before this appointment and that was to ask for a religious holiday. He has not attended any BOE meetings since his short appointment on the board. Was he interested in only one issue?
Let’s come back to the original topic of this article. Kaufman announced that he’s running with his buddy Mahmoud, but if you look at their campaign Facebook page, it’s all about “ME”. Every post is about “I did this”, “I would do this”, and about “his” platform.
Although they are bracketed on the ballot, Kaufman is only promoting himself out there.
What a team player he is!

  2. Who was he responding to in his FB response? Would be great to know.

  5. Chris is a fractured Board Member, all he does at this point is raise opposing views for no other reason than to hear his own voice, most of his arguments are just for the sake of arguing because of the changing dynamics of the school board which he has no control over. When a board is ‘fractured’ by just one member it can barely function. Why is it that a tenured board member, chooses to run for re-election with his buddy (“Lastly, I have chosen to run with my friend Mahmoud.”) ? It’s because he realizes that he can no longer stand on his own two feet, and in addition, to present an even deeper divide to the board in the event that they both are elected. Chris should finish his term, and leave his volunteer post, there is only positive in having served, by running for re-election all he is doing is cementing a negative, lets do him a favor and keep him on the positive side of the volunteer ledger and cast your vote for a fresh volunteer board member. Mahmoud is barely present, so no mention.

  6. Looks like behind the scenes he is collaborating with Madison.

  7. This guy is really useless on the Board. Week after week he is completely unprepared and makes idiotic ignorant comments. And nasty- unbelievable how nasty he is.

    Vote him out

  8. He is very not collaborating with Madison. That’s a ploy to tarnish her name.

  9. I don’t understand the concept of running with someone else. Aren’t the board of ed positions completely individual and with each issue that arises that is voted on they will vote with their own analysis/views/opinions? What is the point of campaigning together and running together? Am I missing something?

  10. Campaigning together saves money. Election these days is an expensive affair.
Kaufman and Mahmod are running on a bracket, which means they share the platform and are bracketed on the ballot (not just campaigning together).
As Kaufman said in his announcement – he’s running with a “buddy” on a common platform so they can vote together.

  11. “Tarnish her name”?
Are they not running on a common platform? They both wanted to reject federal and state funding related to covid?

  12. Why would anyone want to reject federal and state funding related to COVID? If one of Susan’s campaign platforms is to address unfinished learning, how would the district accomplish this without federal and state funding? Where in her campaign platform did she ever write that? Nice try Anonymous to try and create doubt. What a low tactic.

  13. Looks like some candidates and their backers are threatened by a candidate like Madison, who runs on her own, may be gaining some ground. What a shame if she gets in and isn’t someone’s little puppet like the rest of them in there. What a novel concept! Think about who’s on there now and who pulls their strings in the background. Each one of them does.

  14. Honestly Mahmoud is not better thank Kaufman but he stood a chance until he aligned with Chris.
Also- they’re involving themself in the council election. Shaking people down to support one candidate or another vs who supports them.
And honestly. Not one of their signs is NOT on public property. Will the village please go remove them??
Literally one and all. Right down to mahmouds own house.

  15. The entire school board is trash.
The schools are a mess and they are changing the draperies and rearranging the deck chairs

  16. “Mahmoud is barely present, so no mention.” Love that!
Sheila is the most experienced one here. Too bad she become part of the administration now and is no more than a rubber stamp.

  17. Anyone running that goes to church on Sunday?

  18. “Where in her campaign platform did she ever write that?”
Both Kaufman and Madison spoke at the public meetings and urged to not follow Murphy’s mandates and Kaufman specifically said that we should refuse the funds attached to these mandates so we don’t have to follow them.

  19. Kaufman switches sides like a Gemini. You never know where he stands on an issue because he has little knowledge on any subject and zero conviction. He has to go.
