Ridgewood NJ, in response to an erroneous and inflammatory comment made during Tuesday’s Fields Committee meeting, former Ridgewood Mayor Ramon Hache clearly indicated that a berm at the Schedler property was built as protection from trucks barreling off of Route 17, not to deliberately make the property inhospitable to a larger athletic field, as is being suggested by some sports group representatives and at least one member of the Village Council.
No meeting minutes, official correspondence, or audio/video recordings exist in which any former Village officials indicated that a larger field should be dealt with by constructing a berm that would prevent such an installation.
The Ridgewood Blog thanks former Mayor Hache, who served on the Council when the berm construction was authorized, for setting the record straight once and for all.

Now that we all know that the contamination is there, and they are going to remove the contaminated berm, the problem lies that they are not going to replace the burn with clean soil. Just put up a cyclone fence, what about the noise?
One of the reasons that they erected the berm was notably to have a sound barrier, protection from trucks and cars, and sound walls next to a ball field will cause noise to bounce back into the neighborhood. Maybe that isn’t an issue for the sports groups because they do not care. If they do decide on a wall, which would really be a slap in the face to those neighbors, then I would think the hours of operation be adjusted to accommodate for additional nuisance noise.

Watch now, how many political individuals are going to be walking backwards from this current situation. Now that the can is open and the worms ate contaminated and this shit is still hitting the fan , so many individuals don’t want to be involved with the contamination with the health and well-being of individuals that may have been contaminated, and this past and current administration have failed with looking out for employees that worked at these locations. Now it’s in the hands of lawyers and prosecutors getting their research from the DEP.

Thank you, Ramon Hache. But for those of you who are blaming Ramon or Susan for the contaminated soil, you are misguided. The elected officials are not expected to be soil experts. They were told by Rutishauser that the soil was fine. Put the blame where it belongs.
Is it a true that a member of the RBSA said during the meeting this week that the contaminated soil should be dumped on Susan Knudsen‘s front yard after it is removed? What class! Glad we have that remark recorded on audio and video.

I believe what he is trying to convey here is that a mayer relies on their competent professional staff to ensure compliance. there were 2 village engineers, Chris Rutihasher and Jovan Mehandzic who screwed up. Both complicit along with Heather Mailander. All 3 are responsible. He also stated that the old. plan was balanced to suit everyone’s needs not this new plan. On tape y’all
