Former Tenafly Police Officer Faces Up to 30 Years for Manslaughter

Tenafly NJ, a former Tenafly police officer, Joseph Grieco, has been convicted of manslaughter in the shooting death of his husband, John Kelly. The tragic incident, which occurred in July 2023, unfolded after Grieco had allegedly been drinking before and after returning home.

Tragic Night Ends in Conviction

According to prosecutors, Grieco continued drinking after arriving home and allegedly began playing with his firearm, which accidentally discharged, fatally wounding John Kelly.

After a jury trial, Grieco was found guilty of manslaughter and now faces a prison sentence of up to 30 years. His sentencing is scheduled for March.

      He won’t do any jail time.

  2. If you bothered to go to the trial you would have heard the expert testimony of the toxicologist which proved that Grieco was not intoxicated. This was a tragic accident with no intent on Griecos part. But all you people hear is that a Ex-Police Officer was involved and he’s automatically GUILTY in your eyes. It was also stated in some other news outlets that the victim was shot in the chest (FALSE) the ME’s testimony says otherwise. The jury in this case got it all wrong. I wish you so called reporters would get the facts straight, go sit your butts in the courtroom like I did for 6 days and then report the truth, but I guess the TRUTH doesn’t make good news…..
