The full “pink moon” will be glowing in the sky on Tuesday, April 11. It will be the fourth full moon on the 2017 lunar calendar and the first full moon of spring in the northern hemisphere. Below are some facts about the 2017 pink moon, when it will be visible and how it got its name.
When to see it
If the night sky is clear, people in New York City will be able to see the so-called pink moon rising in the eastern sky on Tuesday at 8:01 p.m., people in Newark and Atlantic City will see it rising at 8:02 p.m., and those in Philadelphia will see it start to rise at 8:05 p.m.
