Montvale NJ, good news for Montvale commuters! The long-awaited reopening of the Grand Avenue Parkway ramp is just around the corner, with Mayor Mike Ghassali confirming that the project is in its final stages. While there haven’t been major changes since the last update, the project remains on track for a September reopening.
Mayor Ghassali provided a detailed breakdown of the work happening in the coming days, outlining a clear path to getting the ramp back in service.
Final Touches Before Reopening
The contractor is now focusing on a few key tasks to get the ramp ready:
- Paving and Curing: Final paving is scheduled for Friday night, while the new parapet at mile marker 171.4S needs just a few more days to fully cure before the light poles can be installed.
- Lighting and Rails: Wiring for the new lighting system is progressing, and the guide rail connections should be completed by the end of the week.
Once these tasks are completed, the temporary barrier will be removed, and the original striping on the mainline will be restored. After that, the ramp will be reopened for public use—a moment many commuters have been waiting for.
A Smart Shift for Utility Work
In an effort to avoid further delays, a new plan has been developed to handle the final utility work. Originally, the ramp was to be closed for the removal of old utility poles by Orange & Rockland Utilities. However, to get the ramp open faster, Mayor Ghassali announced that this work will now be performed during a series of overnight closures. This means commuters will have access to the ramp during the day, with temporary closures only happening at night.
Mayor Ghassali concluded his update by thanking the community for their continued patience, emphasizing that the project is in the “final stretch.” Residents can look forward to a full update on the exact opening date very soon.
