Hackensack NJ, the Hackensack Police Department announces the arrest of Omer Alvarado from Hackensack on several criminal charges regarding an assault / kidnapping investigation.

On February 12th 2023 at approximately 7:30 A.M., Officer Wanda Rivera and SPO Nicholas Mazzaccaro were on patrol on Hudson Street when they observed a male, later identified as Alvarado, carrying and dragging a person down a driveway and behind a building. Officers quickly reacted and attempted to locate the male, but initially could not locate. Shortly thereafter, Officers heard yelling coming from behind a door and were able to locate Alvarado and the person he was dragging. Investigation revealed that Alvarado assaulted the victim (who was known to him) and was dragging the victim back into a home after they had tried to escape the assault, when police intervened. The victim suffered minor injuries and did not require medical treatment.
Alvarado was arrested without incident and criminally charged with simple assault / 2C: 12-1A (1) and kidnapping (2C:13-1B(2)). He was processed and transported to the Bergen County Jail on a warrant. These charges are merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in the court of law.
