Hackensack NJ, on Wednesday November 9, 2022, at approximately 09:00 A.M., Hackensack Police officers , Det. Chris Lara Nunez, P.O. Frank Caneja, P.O. Matthew Debonis, and Sgt. Kley Peralta responded to 170 Prospect Avenue on a report of an individual threatening to jump off the parking deck. Officers located a male juvenile on the ledge of the parking deck who appeared to be in emotional distress. Det. Lara Nunez and P.O. Caneja immediately began speaking with the juvenile, utilizing de-escalation skills and crisis intervention training to build a rapport with the juvenile. They were able to successfully speak to the juvenile, and subsequently rescued the juvenile off the ledge to safety. The juvenile was then transported to a local hospital for treatment.
The Hackensack Police Department is extremely proud of the officers who brought this incident to a successful and safe conclusion, and they should be commended for their heroic action while upholding the proud traditions of the Hackensack Police Department.
