  1. No need to pull over for the police in Bergen county
They are not allowed to pursue a stolen car anymore.
Basically its a ‘welcome mat’ for the scumbag criminals to come here from Newark.
“Fishing in a barrel’ describes the ease at which one can come here, steal a car, and drive it away without concern about being arrested.
Might was well put up a billboard in Newark; “Come to Bergen County, Steal a car, we are not allowed to chase you home, have a nice day’.

    1. It’s very disturbing to me. My car was stolen in January and thats when I found out they weren’t allowed to chase anymore. Thanks Murphy…

  2. WHY DO PEOPLE LEAVE CARS UNLOCKED AND LEAVE FOBS IN THE DAMN CARS??!!! Do they want their cars stolen?!

If you leave a car unattended for any length of time, LOCK THE DAMN CAR.

And take the fob. I mean, who do you think you’re having it there for?

    1. some people suggest insurance fraud

      1. More people are just stupid.
        More stupid people than criminals

    2. You can lock your car and take your fob. It doesn’t stop the serious car thieves from taking it. Cars are stolen to order and if your car is seen parked in your driveway and it’s one of the make/models they are looking for, it’s going for a ride. The parts are worth more than the whole car. In some cases, some of those cars are going to a shipping container and they’re off to foreign lands.

    3. The key fob is a bad design because even careful people have a statistically higher percentage of times they accidentally leave it in the car. Bad engineering.

  3. What do the car thieves look like, is there something unique about them to keep an eye out for?

This information should be known and shared since these car thefts seem to be happening on a frequent basis. Do the police not know or are they just refusing to share that information?

    3. Ask the former Chief of Wyckoff PD what happens when you tell your officers to be attentive to what’s going on…………………..

  4. Crime has gotten so bad around here, people will start moving away and property values will tank. All citizens deserve to be safe, and nobody is safe with gangs of predators lurking around trying to steal cars. Car theft is worse than in the 1990’s. Hope local officials and PD wake up.

      1. Idiot politicians are certainly part of the problem, along with the idiots that vote for them, but the criminals committing the crimes are the real problem.

        1. Wrong (again).
The idiot politicians are the problem.

          There will ALWAYS be criminals.
How you deal with them is at issue,

Idiots yield to criminals and put citizens at risk.
Competent politicians confront and subdue criminals and protect the citizens.
