Hoboken NJ, starting at 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, January 30, 2025, Hoboken PATH Station will be temporarily closed for major track and station upgrades. The closure will last until 5 a.m. on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, during which PATH will carry out essential repairs and improvements to modernize the station and reduce long-term disruptions.
What to Expect During the Closure
PATH is seizing this opportunity to work intensively over a continuous 25-day period, preventing what would otherwise be a year of intermittent closures and reduced schedules. Key upgrades include:
- Hoboken Interlocking Replacement: This complex network of tracks and switches directs trains from two tunnels to three tracks in the station. By working continuously, PATH will avoid the need for multiple weekend shutdowns and over 50 days of reduced service in and out of Hoboken.
- Track Repairs and Maintenance: PATH crews will repair 4,500 linear feet of track within the two tunnels leading into the station. Without the extended closure, these repairs would require weekend service reductions for an entire year.
- Passenger Area Upgrades: PATH will replace concrete walking surfaces and upgrade four staircases within the station, reducing potential 28-weekend service interruptions to a single, uninterrupted period.
Plan Your Trip: Alternative Travel Options
Commuters are encouraged to explore alternative travel routes during this time. PATH will provide detailed travel alternatives to help ease the transition.

Why This Matters

PATH is working closely with preservation offices to respect the station’s historic value, making sure it serves commuters for years to come while retaining its original charm.
