Ridgewood NJ, get ready for some star power! Sydney Sweeney, Amanda Seyfried, and North Jersey native Brandon Sklenar have kicked off production for their latest film, The Housemaid. The psychological thriller began filming Friday at Green Way Markets in Ridgewood, and it’s only the start of a series of local shoots.
What Is The Housemaid About?
The Housemaid, based on the New York Times bestselling novel by Freida McFadden, follows the story of Millie Calloway (played by Sweeney), who becomes a maid for Nina and Andrew Winchester, portrayed by Seyfried and Sklenar. As Millie adjusts to her new job, she uncovers unsettling secrets about her employers, making for a gripping and suspenseful narrative.
The film, produced by Lionsgate, is being directed by Paul Feig, known for hits like Bridesmaids and A Simple Favor.
Why Ridgewood?
“We recently had footage taken for This Old House and Swipe with Jon Hamm and Amanda Peet. Amazon also filmed a back-to-school commercial here at George Washington Middle School,” Kazmark said. “It’s a quaint town with a lot to offer filmmakers, and today is just another example of that.”
While Ridgewood hosted filming for a day, The Housemaid production will continue in other New Jersey locations, including Morristown, Montclair, Cresskill, and a studio in Jersey City.
