Since 1939, Agrati has been the leader in automotive fasteners. Today, what started as a family business, is a company with 12 production plants, five logistic centers, and over 2,400 professionals across three continents, serving over 40 million vehicles worldwide.
The company has recently extended its high-quality standards and expertise to motorsports, by creating a dedicated business unit: Agrati Performance. Here’s what you need to know about one of this industry’s latest and most important partnerships.
Agrati and UniBo Motorsports
UniBo is the University of Bologna’s official racing team. Their motorcycles and racing cars compete in the Formula Students competitions. The team comprises over 250 students from varied faculties and has three vehicles: a combustion racing car (Ultimae LM or Integrale 636), an electric racing car (eRBT-23), and an electric racing motorcycle (Nemesis).
The Official Racing Team of Alma Mater Studiorum – University of Bologna has competed in international events since 2009. As a team partner, Agrati ensures its vehicles use the best components available, such as titanium screws and aluminum nuts.
Agrati also has the technology, workforce, and know-how to make a difference in motorsports, where every part must meet “zero defect” standards. That’s why UniBo Motorsports couldn’t have found a better partner for its most challenging tracks. The partnership was announced in May 2024.
The team is very active, participating and winning several competitions worldwide. Last year, UniBo defended its World Championship title in Spain and went to the podium twice: once in Spain and another in Hungary. UniBo’s vehicles are also highly ranked in their categories: the Nemesis is at the top of the world’s ranking, while the Integrale 636 is 4th in Europe and 13th in the global ranking.
E-Tech Europe Trade Fair
Agrati was at the E-Tech Europe Trade Fair, showcasing its prototyping services for cars and motorcycles. UniBo Motorsport also participated in the event, which took place in Bologna.
Agrati’s Main Contributions
Agrati produces billions of pieces yearly, comprising various designs, materials, and purposes. Most of its production is absorbed by Tier 1 and OEM clients worldwide (about 60%). Agrati’s nuts, for instance, are necessary for assembling powertrains, chassis, seatings, and body parts.
Luckily for UniBo, Agrati produces about 2 million nuts monthly. All stages of production are carried out internally, ensuring a zero-defect quality standard and optional anti-unscrewing feature. Additionally, Agrati can produce customized parts by combining specific designs and materials. Unique solutions like weld-on nuts, cases, and wheel nuts are available and certified by ISO 898-2, but they can also be customized according to the client’s needs.
Agrati’s bolts also deserve special attention, given the variety and high quality of the items. Like nuts, bolts are everywhere: battery, body, chassis, safety systems, powertrains, seating, you name it. Indeed, the company produces over 5 million screws daily, controlling almost every step of the production line, which includes heat treatments, cold forging, tooling, thread rolling, and wire drawing.
Prototyping the Future
Agrati has a tremendous capacity for prototyping, designing, testing, and validating new products. The Co-Design service provides cutting-edge lab equipment and advanced software for tests and simulations.
The company’s computers and softwares can simulate friction coefficients, fatigue performance, corrosion resistance, tension, torque, and stiffness. The service also includes a multi-skilled team of professionals developing each new product from scratch. Moreover, Agrati supports its clients throughout the validation process until the final product is ready to go.
Conclusion
Agrati’s partnership with UniBo Motorsports showcases their commitment to innovation and excellence in the motorsports industry. By providing top-quality components and advanced prototyping services, through a dedicated business unit which is Agrati Performance. This collaboration not only highlights Agrati’s expertise but also sets a new standard for performance and reliability in motorsports. If both parties continue to achieve great results, the future of motorsports looks brighter than ever.
