Mahwah NJ, according to David May of the Mahwah Cell Tower Task Force , on February 5th the “Administration provided the following update last night at the Council Meeting in regards to the Cell Tower Project: A meeting was held at the Company 3 fire house on Friday January 29th. In attendance were representatives from Orange and Rockland, AT&T, Verizon, TK Wireless, Boswell engineering, the Mayor, the Administrator, the Fire Chief, and members of the Construction Dept.”
“It was determined that a new power line needs to be run for the temporary tower. Everyone in attendance was in agreement with the plan. A design application has been submitted to Rockland Electric for the temporary service – this process can take up to 8 weeks.”
“In the meantime, new construction permits will be submitted to the town and the tower company can then begin the process of building the tower as the site awaits the new power supply.
Verizon lease has been finalized and is being sent to Mahwah for execution.”
Inadequate power and uncertainty about where new power lines would be installed will further delay the installation of a temporary cell tower at Fire Company 3 by eight weeks, the township’s consultant said.
On February 18th Township of Mahwah issued a letter to update resident s saying : “Temporary Tower Timeline update – None at this time”
“Permanent Tower Update – Per Declan, Planning Board application for the permanent tower is being prepared. Verizon has granted approval to be represented by the applicant.
Power requirements for a permanent tower as well as upgrades to the Fire House Co. 3 facility were had and agreed upon at the January 29th meeting. Representatives from the tower company, AT&T, Orange and Rockland, as well as township officials agreed on what was needed and what would be installed when the work begins on the permanent tower project.”
