Can ‘Common Sense’ Save the Democrats? Josh Gottheimer Fights Socialist Shift

Ridgewood NJ, The battle for the soul of the Democratic Party is heating up, and New Jersey’s own Representative Josh Gottheimer (D-NJ-05) is right in the thick of it.
With far-left candidates gaining traction nationwide, moderate Democrats are scrambling to distance themselves from radical policies. As inner-party anxieties hit a boiling point ahead of upcoming elections, a group of lawmakers is making a public stand to bring the party back to the center.
The “Promise to America”: Capitalist vs. Socialist
Rep. Gottheimer has officially signed onto “Promise to America,” a newly launched initiative co-endorsed by about a dozen members of the U.S. House of Representatives. The movement centers around a website prompting voters to sign a petition dedicated to “bringing common sense back to the Democratic Party.”
The group’s manifesto draws a sharp line in the sand against the party’s growing far-left faction:
“We are capitalist, not socialist,” the website explicitly states. “We believe in a growing, fair, and competitive economy that rewards hard work, innovation, entrepreneurship, and ownership… Economic, permitting, and tax policy should expand opportunity and lower costs for workers, families, entrepreneurs, and those striving to join the middle class.”
Party Insiders Panicking Over Hard-Left Turn
The launch of the “Promise to America” platform comes right on the heels of major far-left victories, including a string of Democratic congressional primary wins in New York.
While leadership rarely addresses it publicly, party insiders are privately panicking. There is a growing worry that rampant anti-Semitism, radical messaging, and economic illiteracy coming from the hard-left wing will severely alienate moderate voters and derail any chance of major electoral gains.
Gottheimer’s Fresh “Backup Plan” in Ridgewood
Whether the “Promise to America” campaign can successfully steer the party away from extreme rhetoric remains a massive question mark. But back home in Bergen County, Gottheimer seems to be keeping his options open.
Local observers remember when the congressman visited Bagelicious in Ridgewood for a morning of hands-on learning. The owner, Gustavo, spent the morning teaching Rep. Gottheimer the precise secrets behind crafting the perfect North Jersey bagel.
If the internal warfare of the modern Democratic party doesn’t pan out, at least Gottheimer is locking down some highly valuable local job skills!

Makes me like Josh since apparently in NJ we don’t accept Republicans any more
The midget from Tenafly talks a good game, then votes 100% with the loons.
He talked about increasing the SALT deduction for years, but then voted against it.
