Ridgewood NJ ,At a recent public meeting of the Village Council, Village Manager Roberta Sonenfeld reported that the large parking lot at the former Ken Smith Motors will be repurposed by the property’s owner.

The lot is now being used for CBD employee parking on a permit only basis.  Village of Ridgewood parking enforcement agents patrol the lot and issue summonses to violators.   The Village currently receives a percentage of each permit fee.

The effective date for complete control by the property’s owner was said to be 1/1/2016.  It is reported that the owner plans to offer commuter parking as well as employee parking (maybe “open” parking as well).  The Village will not receive any revenue under the new plan, and will not provide any enforcement services.

  1. Good Luck on this one, it may a good start for 2016 in our Village.
    Happy New Year All.

  2. Sounds Great..stop the massive Garage Bonding now.

  3. Sometimes market forces change the best laid plans.
Those who think increased meter rates and longer meter times will have no effect on behavior are living in a fantasy world.

  4. Changing prices up or down on town surface lot much more flexible than
Bonding 15 million with overruns then that asset has to be payed for by taxpayer subsidies forever ..build it and they might not come

  5. Repurposed….That’s like “Being Coachable” and “Takeaway”….complete BULLSHIT.

  6. Mr Mayor and Elected Coucil we do not want this ill sited Out of Scale Garage. If this shall be your Legacy then Carry this as a badge of shame as a Trust Neglected and a Duty to Serve the Greater Good of your citizens their Organizations & Houses of Worship Forgotten.

  7. This begs for more details.
    Who owns it??
Or more importantly who has the long term lease on it and is seeking these changes.

  8. So the Ridgewood police will not be siting in that lot any more, Yeah .

  9. Three guesses on who has the long term lease here.
Hint: buddies with those whose political sings were hanging there

  10. Yes 1:11 they have to find another place to sit and see if you go threw the red light.

  11. I heard that the leasee is one who is proposing apartments at a density greater than currently zoned.

  12. Smells like fish
