Don’t Miss the Deadline! Ridgewood Residents Have Until Tuesday, December 16th for Final Curbside Leaf Pickup
the staff of the Ridgewood blog
Ridgewood NJ, Winter is Coming: Final Curbside Leaf Collection in Ridgewood . The Village of Ridgewood is making its final pass for curbside leaf collection as the season officially winds down. Residents must heed the final deadline to ensure their yard waste is properly managed before winter sets in.
The absolute final day to place loose leaves or bagged leaves curbside for collection is Tuesday, December 16. Collection crews will complete their routes thereafter, meaning any leaves placed out past this date will not be picked up.
Important: Strict Rules for Final Collection
To ensure an efficient and successful final collection, the Village is stressing that residents and their landscapers must adhere to strict guidelines. This collection is for LEAVES ONLY.
What WILL Be Collected:
-
Loose Leaves: Must be placed in the street, right next to the curb.
-
Bagged Leaves: Must be set directly on the curb (not in the street).
What WILL NOT Be Collected (No Exceptions):
-
Pumpkins
-
Cornstalks
-
Flowers
-
Root Balls
-
Hay
-
Branches or limbs
-
Any other type of yard waste
If You Use a Landscaper: Please ensure they are fully aware of and strictly follow these specific guidelines to avoid refusal of collection.
Post-Deadline Disposal Options
If you generate any additional leaves or approved yard waste after the December 16th deadline, the curbside service will no longer be available.
However, you still have an option for disposal: All subsequent leaves or permitted yard waste may be brought directly to the Ridgewood Recycling Center.
Plan ahead to meet the Tuesday, December 16th deadline and ensure a clean property going into the New Year!

my lazy ass neighbor sent his wife out there and did a half ass job with a tiny electric blower. she just blowed into the street covering the street instead of a tidy pile so they blew into the neighbors yards and all over the street. there should be an ordinance requiring proper leaf removal like the one that does not permit uncut grass. some of these newbies who moved here from apartments don’t have a clue (i offered to help them a few years ago but they refused)
The Village continues to struggle with this. Other towns mastered long ago. Leaves are everywhere.
Best year by far by the Village. There have been at least 2 extra pickup days plus the final next week. The time period btw the deadline for placing leaves at the curb and town pickup has been 3-4 days. Great job
That’s because the top officials keep on trying to reinvent the wheel. This was mastered many years ago, but in the past 15 years or so the Department of Public Works lost a lot of employees due to retiring, and haven’t been properly replaced like all the departments. So you can’t do the same matter of work with less employees, well, maybe AI will fix that problem. Yeah right, and Snow’s coming this weekend, oh yeah.
How many employees are in the street department now. Full-time
On the post on top with thumbs down, you have no idea what you’re even thinking of. You must be a management or you must be one of the ass kisses which is it. Or maybe you’re just one of the windmill followers, I got your number.
The taxpayers feel that the leaf pro should been working every Saturday right from the start. And maybe even Sundays you can pick a lot of leaves up on a Sunday. No excuse the village has the money. They borrow money for everything else for all for their secret projects not the bullshit. what is the Village Of Ridgewood run like Chick-fil-A? They don’t open up on a Sunday. Hypocrites
Last pickup cancelled once again.
How come the leaf cruise are not working on Sundays, police fire EMTs emergency service what department what a pollution I’m working on Sundays, you guys work on Sundays when there’s salting it snow storms snow removal plowing flooding, why not pick up leaves on a Sunday doesn’t make sense no excuse make a crew to pick up leaves. So now all the leaves that are out there they’re all covered with 6 inches of snow thank God this director is going. It’s time for all new blood up top. It’s time the village gets with the times. It’s 2026 going to be. Not 1956 and I’m sure the village respects if anyone cannot make it because of religious events that’s fine, don’t work. I’m sure they can get a crew together to pick up leaves on a Sunday on overtime. They come in to do all the other things, right
Oh wow, that’s what happens when the town doesn’t work on a Sunday
What’s next the fire department is going to ask for volunteers to clean snow around the fire hydrants, when we pay them full-time they’re on the clock 24 seven, don’t embarrass yourself but that anymore no one wants to see that. That’s a set of balls and an insult to taxpayers. Get a crow go out there and shovel snow around this hydrants in enough is enough.
With the taxpayers love to see when people put thumbs down, we know who they are. We know that they’re employees of the village. Because obviously they’re getting upset they may have to work on a Sunday. Well too damn bad. Many other departments work on a Sunday. Work on Sundays now. We don’t want to hear anything about a BERGEN law bullshit. We need and we want our employees working on a Sunday. There’s plenty of work that needs to be done. If some of them can’t work overtime on a Sunday, then have split shifts 60% worked on the week 40% work on weekends there’s no excuse things should stop because it’s Saturday and Sunday. No it’s going to be 2026. Let’s get with the times. It’s not 40 years ago when things move on a Saturday and Sunday. Back in the roaring 30s 40s 24 seven baby he got a Glenrock the recycling yards open on a Sunday. Why isn’t it open in Ridgewood. Let’s stop the bullshit. My eyeball is on you.
