Leonia NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of SAMANTHA KRAKOWER (DOB: 04/21/1997; single; teacher) of 246 East Central Boulevard, Palisades Park, New Jersey on charges of Sexual Assault, Criminal Sexual Contact and Endangering The Welfare Of A Child. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Robert Anzilotti, and the Leonia Police Department under the direction of Chief Scott Tamagny.
On Thursday, April 22, 2021, Leonia High School contacted the Leonia Police Department to report that they received information regarding Leonia High School Physical Education and Health teacher SAMANTHA KRAKOWER engaging in an inappropriate sexual relationship with a student. The Leonia Police Department contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit and an investigation was initiated. During the investigation, it was learned that KRAKOWER, who is also a softball coach and basketball coach at Leonia High School, started the inappropriate relationship earlier this school year.
As a result of that investigation, SAMANTHA KRAKOWER was arrested and charged with one count of Sexual Assault, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2c(3), a 2nd degree crime; one count of Endangering The Welfare Of A Child, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4a, a 2nd degree crime; and one count of Sexual Contact, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:14-3b, a 4th degree crime. She was transported to the Bergen County Jail pending her first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court on Friday, April 23, 2021.
Prosecutor Musella states that the charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt and would like to thank the Leonia Police Department for their assistance in this investigation.
