Mahwah NJ, The historic Crocker Mansion, a sprawling 58-room estate nestled in the Ramapo Mountains, is officially back on the market. Once seized from a billionaire fraudster, the 120-year-old property is now listed for $33 million, offering a rare chance to own a piece of Gilded Age luxury in New Jersey.

A Grand Architectural Masterpiece

Located at 675 Ramapo Valley Road, the Crocker Mansion is a stunning four-story brick palace with nearly 50,000 square feet of living space set on 12.5 private acres. Built between 1901 and 1907 by railway heir George Crocker, the estate boasts opulence at every turn.

The mansion features:

  • 21 bedrooms and 29 bathrooms
  • A grand hall, adorned library with gold-leaf décor, and marble staircases
  • Amenities like a tea room, billiards hall, movie theater, indoor spa, and sauna
  • Spectacular views of the Ramapo Mountains

Described as “a truly magnificent and rare estate” by listing agents Diane Cookson, Carl Gambino, and the Fox & Stokes team at Compass New Jersey, the property combines historic charm with unparalleled grandeur, just 25 miles from New York City.

A Scandalous Past

This latest chapter for the Crocker Mansion comes after its previous owner, Chinese billionaire Ho Wan Kwok—also known as Miles Guo—was found guilty of masterminding an elaborate fraud scheme. Kwok, accused of defrauding thousands of online followers of over $1 billion, had acquired the mansion in December 2021 for $26 million, marking the most expensive home sale in New Jersey that year.

In 2023, federal authorities seized the estate as part of their investigation, alongside other assets, including a Bösendorfer grand piano, luxury sports cars, and hundreds of millions in funds.

Kwok’s trial culminated in July 2024, with a jury convicting him on nine counts of fraud and conspiracy, while acquitting him on three others.

A Piece of History on the Market

The Crocker Mansion isn’t just a home; it’s a statement. From its marble staircases to its sprawling acreage, this property represents the height of early 20th-century opulence. Listed at $33 million, it’s an opportunity for potential buyers to not only own a piece of history but to restore its legacy after a tumultuous recent past.
