Hillsdale NJ, according to the Hillsdale Police Department but this could apply to any town in Bergen County ,”Parents, we get it, it’s a beautiful day outside and you have had enough of the kids inside the house, so you agree to let them go shoot hoops for a little while at the park. Problem is, they have probably spoken to all of their friends, whose parents have joyfully agreed to let their kids air out by shooting hoops at the park as well, not knowing that a group has been formed and is meeting up.”

“Slight problem with this…the kids “shooting hoops” is going to turn into a basketball game and last we checked, when the kids play, they aren’t giving each other 6ft of space, 6 inches maybe, definitely not 6ft.
Then…someone calls us and tells us about a group playing basketball at the park and we have to go remove them, then we become the bad guys. We understand it, most of us have kids, and YES, we are done with them too, but we all have to be smart and do our part.”

“Please don’t send the kids to the park to play basketball, baseball, hockey, curling, Kan Jam. We will all get through this faster if we do our best to “Flatten The Curve”. When the weather gets nicer, we can send the kids anywhere and have no worries if they are going to get sick. We thank you for you much anticipated cooperation.”

Social distancing is deliberately increasing the physical space between people to avoid spreading illness. Staying at least six feet away from other people lessens your chances of catching COVID-19.
