UPDATE ON BOIL WATER ADVISORY 4/6/17 8:30am
From Ridgewood water

Ridgewood NJ, On Wednesday, April 5th, Ridgewood released a public notification and boil water advisory to customers in Glen Rock and portions of the Ridgewood and Wyckoff. Copy of the full notice is available on the Ridgewood Water and Village of Ridgewood websites. The groundwater source where the detection was made is in Ridgewood and was disinfected before distribution into the system. As a precaution, the NJDEP requires public notification to the entire low pressure zone of our system. This zone includes all of Glen Rock, the portion of Ridgewood south of Monte Vista Avenue and east of the rail line, and the portion of Wyckoff in the area of Goffle Road, Hopper Avenue, Ravine Court and Ravine Avenue.

Ridgewood apologizes for this inconvenience. Fortunately the detection was in the raw water, prior to treatment and release into the system. The drinking water warning and boil advisory is an excess of caution. There is no E-coli outbreak. We hope to lift the advisory by Friday of this week.

Many customers are asking why we notified them a day after the sample was collected. The lab collected the sample on Tuesday and reported the results to us on Wednesday. Upon receiving their notification, Ridgewood proceeded with initiating the public notice. This included consulting with the NJDEP and EPA on the form of the notice.

Please share this information with neighbors, friends and anyone that doesn’t have access to the internet.

  1. Yup, I’m in the zone…

  2. Sell the Ridgewood Water

  3. I’ve lived in Ridgewood for almost 40 years and I can’t recall any communication being handled so poorly. Someone should be fired over how badly this was managed.

  4. Snowflake Alert…

  5. Willard FTW!

  6. No notification via robocall. No “neighborly” notification, of course. You could drop dead on the street and no one would help. Ridgewood Water refuses to answer the phone, Health Department could care less and refused to answer questions. Inept, unprofessional and incompetent. Will be deducting from water bill. This is par for the course in a backward town which lacks modern updates, conveniences and its residents are nasty.

  7. I still only know about this because of this blog, and the High School. This is a huge fail on the part of Ridgewood Water.

  8. The schools were apparently notified Wed night so why didn’t the Mayor do the same? Ridgewood Water’s robocall, which came a day later Thurs night was blank. I rec’d a working message from Ridgewood water at 2:30 today and an email from our acting village manager tonight at around 5:00. Too little too late folks. Next time don’t bother me about moving garbage cans and leaves. Huge fail is right…this could have been serious. The Mayor and VC had a responsibility and today proved they can’t handle it. We should abolish the VC and hire a competent Village Manager to run things.

  9. The village should donate to the Blog, which works a lot better than the official village website in disseminating information of interest and importance.

  10. What are you people talking about?
Why would they announce to the world that they fu&$@d up?
Your getting exactly what you pay for, no more no less.
The VC and the mayor are only there to benefit their families as evidenced with the hiring of the mayors children. Absolute disgrace. Don’t you realize that this is how the town functions and has been for years? As Beth said, the people here are nasty. thats true…self-centered and completely controlled by their corporate masters as they rape the world via Wall Street. Makes for a nice “Village” doesn’t it?
