Ridgewood NJ, Thousands of Microsoft 365 users experienced service disruptions on Saturday, with many reporting issues accessing Outlook and other Microsoft applications.
Microsoft Investigates the Outage
Microsoft addressed the outage through a series of updates on X (formerly Twitter), confirming that it was actively investigating the problem. The company later identified a potential cause and rolled back the suspected code change in an effort to restore services.
“We’ve identified a potential cause of impact and have reverted the suspected code to alleviate impact,” Microsoft posted via its incident response page.
By Saturday afternoon, Microsoft reported that most affected services were recovering, and user access was gradually being restored.
Thousands of Users Affected
During the peak of the outage—around 4 p.m. EST—thousands of users took to social media to share their frustrations about not being able to access their Outlook email accounts.
According to Downdetector, a website that tracks service disruptions, Microsoft 365 outage reports surged before gradually tapering off as service returned for many users.
A Week of Tech Disruptions
Microsoft’s issues come just days after another major outage impacted the Slack communications platform, preventing thousands of users from accessing their workspaces.
As Microsoft continues to monitor its services, customers are encouraged to check the Microsoft 365 Status page for real-time updates on service availability.
