the staff of The Ridgewood Blog
Ridgewood NJ, children walking to and from school, the elderly, parents pushing strollers, the disabled, and other pedestrians are routinely subject to the dangers of missing concrete sidewalk panels throughout the Village.

While our staff certainly understands the need to remove these panels to facilitate repairs, why does it seemingly take forever for the Village’s Shade Tree Department to come out and determine whether roots can be cut, or a tree has to be taken down? If there isn’t enough permanent staff to handle these requests, why doesn’t Shade Tree contract out to a local tree service company?
Missing sidewalk panels are an accident waiting to happen. The longer they are gone, the more risk we take that somebody is going to fall and hurt or kill themselves.

Picky, picky petty nonsense
Go find some real work
You must work for the Village engineer.
That’s why the cones are there!
Don’t be a feckin idiot WALK AROUND THEM
END OF STORY
No, FIX THEM
Actually, you can just walk around those areas. Or cross the street. Or just go home. Maybe that would be for the best.
No, FIX THEM
Not with a wheelchair or stroller
Not if you have to walk on a busy road
Also, eventually grass grows where the sidewalk used to be AND the homeowner that never fixed the sidewalk isn’t likely to cut that grass either creating another hazard.
Where is KK when you need him…?
Not a VOR problem, sidewalks are the homeowners responsibility.
Someone needs to get to the root of this issue
the home owner is likely getting the roots grinded and replacing the sidewalk slabs. . .agreed – get a real job.
The homeowner is not permitted to do it. They have to wait on somebody from the villages shade tree department to inspect it. That’s the rule.
