Builders got permits for 26,751 units, down from 30,560 the previous year

After a four-year surge in home construction, New Jersey builders took a step back in 2016, reducing their activity by 12.5 percent.

According to the U.S. Census, builders got permission to start 26,751 housing units in the state last year, down from 30,560 the previous year.
